Oil pressure???
I was wondering if my L69 have a problem.
I had to remove one head, I put in new head gasket and everything seems ok BUT now my oil pressure is much higher than it was before.
It was usually around 40 psi at startup, when the engine was hot it got down to about 30. Now it is around 60 at startup.
Is the oil pressure sender unit sending wrong message or is something wrong with my engine?
Thanks in advange,
Nonni

Sounds more like you fixed something than broke something
Mine will start around 60 on a hot day and drop to around 45 hot at idle, then back to 60 when I'm on it. 60 is well within normal operating range, especially on startup.

I don't know what year the car is so the oil pressure sender could be in one of two different places.
In some years the sensor (a 2" long cylinder on a brass tube with an electrical connector at one end) was located behind the drivers side head... is that the head you worked on? If it was I'd inspect the sensor for damage.
A restriction in the system will cause either a drop in flow or a rise in pressure and speed (like a river through a canyon). Thicker oil will also increase the pressure.
The head gasket will go on backwards if you're not careful and block water/oil flow. I assume you put it on right?
I'm running 40 to 60 PSI with a high pressure pump...

The oil pressure unit is on the intake manifold (Edelbrock Torker II), behind the carb.
I am using the same type of oil (Mobil 1) as before, I did take good care when I put the head gasket in place so I am sure it was done right.
