recalls

how long to recalls last on G.M. cars, (I.E. life of car or years)

the reason I'm asking is I saw that gm issued one for the seatbelts on our cars due to the lack of ingrediants in the plastic which makes them fade and brittle.

I would hope that they last forever. Go to your local GM dealer to see a list of recalls and ask about it, they are the best source for this info.

as long as you can prove your car hasn't already had the recall performed, it's always valid. your either going to need the recall letter from gm or a listing from gm vis.

there was a seatbelt recall on our cars issued... go here

http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/index.cfm

I had mine done two years ago and apparently got the last front grey buckle in Canada. The dealership was unable to get the pass side buckle so they gave me a black one in my hand instead... what am I supposed to do with a black buckle in a grey car?

The dealership has NO CHOICE and must complete recalls issued by NHTSA... I was tempted to call NHTSA and tell them the dealership not properly doing recalls but they were the only half decent shop in town.

Don't take no for an answer when you head to the dealership... they must make the repairs

they must make the repairs, but only if you can prove your car is involved in the recall and it hasn't already been performed. you should have never taken a wrong color seat belt. the parts are still there for them to order, that's your fault.

WELL, I just spent about an hour on the phone with GM, and it turns out the my perticular car is not involved in the recall (it should be), they have a recall number (90043 which is directly correlated to (90C03) which is for seat belts for pontiac firebirds but not all of them.

SO I guess I'll have to find some and pay for them, anyone have any grey ones they don't need ??
