A big thank you to V8Astro Captain :hail: . I was just checking on something he posted about in the Drive train section about Astro Van gears and posi will fit our cars. I call the local junk yard and they told me $100 for a hole rearend. Theese vans came with 3.73 and 4.10 posi's stock. I think this could save some people some money. Just a little info post. And if I'm wrong someone set me stright.

Yeah but they are peg leg's right?
I had a 96 Astro for a work van, and I know, but with the v6 those things were kind of peppy, but only one wheel spun, so I dont think I would buy one just because of that.
If you already have a peg leg, then maybe.
I'm just saying this because my rearend is toast right now, but I dont want to swap it with anything other than a posi unit. And I already have a set of 3.73's, so I'm just going to get a whole rear and change the gears out myself.
This is probably a good idea for someone else though.

No his info says posi and so does all the info I found. There are open rear just look for the G80 RPO code or these axle codes in this post.

Oh, I just looked at the post, you can use the gears but not the housing, makes more sense. But I thought all Astros were peg legs, I learn something new every day.

Kllr,

This is the 3.73:1 rear locker in my wife's '00 Astro:

I got that photo when changing to synthetic oil in the axles. The dealer thought I was "goofy" when I ordered it with a posi rear and AWD. He was right - I'm goofy, but not because of that...

S-=trucks and Astros have been available with 10-bolt lockers since at least 1989, maybe before.

Hmm.. Maybe I'll go out and snag a few just for the hell of it, I'm always needing extra drivetrain parts.

Vader, did the dealer think you were "goofy" when you ordered the full feeler package on it also. HeHe
