350 build up - your comments please

Hi,

I am building a 350 for my 84 Firebird. Here is my plan

350 block +.030
speedpro forged pistons 9.?? comp ratio
stock 70cc heads valve and port job
performer rpm intake
750 carb
headers
high flow cat.
700r4 trans
stock gears ??

what would be the best cam for this setup? I would really like to hit the 13's.

Thanks for any tips.

Try a cam with something like 220/230 duration and around .500 lift. The Edelbrock RPM cam comes to mind...

as for rear end gears, you didnt say what you stock gears were, but you will want to get some fairly low gears (higher numerically) to get good quarter mile times...for example 3.73s. My 84 TA has a stock rear end with 3.23s...i am hoping to swap in some 3.73s to improve my off the line performance

good luck with the build up
