Charging System or what?

What's up guys? I'd appreciate some of your thoughts if you can guess what's going on under my hood!!! I've got an '84 T/A that's got a fair amount of miles on her. About two days ago the belt that runs to the smog pump broke. I don't have the time to fix it so I just figured that it's no big deal and I'll get to it when I get to it. Well, yesterday after starting the car twice the 'choke' light came on and stayed on for about 1/4 of a mile before it went off. The car acted like nothing was wrong, but I still checked the carb to make sure everything was working OK. I noticed that the voltmeter was only showing about a 12V charge. Normally, it's running about 14 volts. Today, there was a pretty obnoxious belt squeal but only during the morning. The 12V charge is still there, but the car starts and runs like everything is ok. The only thing is that the lights seem just a little dimmer, and the turning signals are blinking slower than normal. WTF did I do to my car? Any help would be appreciated!!!!

The "Choke" light is also the "Alternator" light. Sounds like it's alternator time for you.
