HELP QUICK!!someone with a 91 Z 305 5spd read this please!!!???
Could anybody tell me what wires go where on the starter? I know where the black positive one goes and the smallest one only fits on that small side post on the starter, i have 2 wires left, they are red and 2 wires are spliced into one connector, and the other wire is by itself. BTW I have a 91 Z 305TPI 5spd, power everything if that matters.
Also, I have engine codes 42 and 43 flashing, i checked my est for the timing and that is connected and the knock sensor is brand new and it is for a 305 not a 350. Could these codes cause my car to have a very minor backfire when idling and cause my car to spit and sputter on idle and have very bad throttle response?? Ive tired erasing the codes thinking they were from the timing but no luck, they keep reappearing. I need some help fast, I am out of options and have no money to tow to a dealer.
And last but not least, I have no coolant pressure. I have a new thermo and new waterpump and there is no leaks. I heard something about let your engine run for a while then take off the radiator cap and see if the coolant is flowing but i am afraid my engine is going to overheat. After running for about 10 min, I checked my coolant when the engine was shut off and it felt really warm, not hot hot but kinda hot. I haven't let my enigne run for more than 10 min at a time since i put the engine back in.
My questions are, starter wires, possible cause of engine codes and spit and sputter with backfire and throttle response, and coolant pressure.
I really need some help, i don't know what else to do.
If someone has a good idea of what is wrong with my car and about the starter, you can call me if it would save you time to type, and it would be easier for me to understand also, my # is 1-262-275-8883 and ask for Kyle thank you much.

The wires you have left go to the starter "+" terminal where the battery cable is. If I have this backwards, then the other end goes along the pass. side frame rail to the battery, and then to a fuse on the fender I believe. Mine are all gone now, but this is what I remember. The rough idle / stumbling is not my area. That is why I took out the TPI, I know nothing about diagnostics, and don't care to pay the $$$ for new parts. How are you measuring coolant pressure? It doesn't really matter I guess. I have always kept the cap off, run the car until you see the coolant flowing through the tubes in the rad. Then top off the rad. and put cap back on. Wait awhile before putting cap on. This should give time to let air pockets get out. If a little coolant pours out, fine, just don't let the tree huggers see you.
