Need help quick...is 6 ft tubing enough for water temp gauge or do I need 12 ft????

I am ordering an Auto Meter mechanical water temperature gauge, and mounting it under my vents. Is the one with 6 feet of tubing enough or do I need 12 feet to hook it up?? I am ordering tonight so it'd be great if I could find out ASAp. Thanks in advance.

Depending on how you plan on snaking it around and into the car, 6' should be enough. Why do you want a mechanical water gauge? Electric is far easier to use. The mechanical gauges are used by racers who don't run alternators and don't run a lot of elecrical devices.

The only gauge I recommend to have mechanical is engine oil pressure. Throw away the plastic tubing they give you and use copper inside the car.

Aren't the mechanical water temp gauges more accurate? Thanks.

I like the mechanical water temp gauges better. Six foot was enough for my car, and I mounted them under the a/c vents like you're talking about. I didn't even have to drill a huge hole... I was able to use the hole for the speedometer cable. And most electric gauges don't use the full sweep of the gauge...only the high end expensive electric ones. I'd say go mechanical. Good luck.
