Motor Mount Install Help
Hi Everyone. I am changing my motor mounts and I need to know where to get the little "L" shaped plates that make the install easy. The original ones on my cars are gone and GM does not make them anymore. Also the 1 junkyard within 75 milesof here doesn't have any. Any suggestions on where to get them? They are for an LB9. Thanks!

Hey, If no one knows... Is there an easy way to get the dang mounts in without reaching up thru the sping and pocket?

Get a 15mm swivel socket from Craftsman (Sears), and a 12 inch extension to remove the nuts from inside the suspension crossmember. Be carful not to drop the nuts down inside crossmember. After mounting new mounts and putting bolts in their respective holes, take a wire coat hanger and a pair of vise grips and make one end of hanger fit tightly around nut. After it is tight, work it up into the crossmember, to the bolt you want. You will probably have to bend and adjust angle of approach to line up with and reach the bolt. Pull it back out, then take some sort of adhesive, I used black RTV, put enough on the washer to hold it to the bolt. Carefully slip it into place and turn the bolt by hand to start nut. Once nut is started just twist the hanger and it will pop off the nut. repeat process several more times, button the rest back up and THRASH to your hearts content! You might also check the tranny mount while it is off the ground. GOOD LUCK, and take your time, it will pay off.

Uh, find a girl with really small hands! Like this:
It took me about 15 minutes per mount using this method. And I'll second the RTV on the washer idea. Actually I used white lithium grease, but RTV will work better. For people with normal sized hands, you might try getting a cheap 15mm wrench and bending it.

Thanks Everyone. That worked like a champ. It took a lot of patience but I got the motor and tranny mounts in. Hey, have you guys noticed that the term BOLT IN means you will have to do at least 10 modifications? The Energy Suspension tranny mount came with a bolt thats diameter was too large for the crossmember! You would think they would get it right considering how many cars GM has built! Anyways, Thanks again. I'm going ridin'!
