Water Pump Question

I read the tech article on removing the air injection pump. I notice that after you reroute your serpentine belt the water pump will be turning in the other direction.

1. Am I right on this?
2. Does the pump operate the same regardless of the direction of rotation?

I don't have the serpentine belt set up, but can't make sense of why re-routing a belt system would change the direction the pump turns if the engine is still rotating in the same direction?

if you are refering to this tech article, then no, it is not being rerouted to turn differently. the ribs are facing out in both pictures, and thus the pump is turning in the same direction; though i can see how the top picture may be misleading. the pump does not work regaurdless of direction. there are vanes in the pump to direct and push the water where it's supposed to go. if you have the pump turning the wrong way, it will surely overheat.
