HELP! Horrible noise coming from engine!
HELP! Horrible noise coming from engine!
Well, this started yesterday. I started the car up and it was all fine but then this noise started. It sounds like the noise you get when you put a small twig between the spokes of a bike while its in motion. The noise is there while the car standing and while its moving but dissapears after about 2K RPM's. It's a lot worse when the car is still cold. I got under the car and the noise seems to be coming from either the Torque Converter or the oil pan.
I came up with three theories:
One: Flywheel is rubbing on the frame or on the starter gear.
Two: There is something in the oil pan and its banging on the sides.
Three: There is something in the TC that's banging around (seems unlikely)
If anybody has any ideas please tell me. I'm waiting fro the engine to cool off right now and then I'm going to change the oil and see if it goes away.
Thanks,
-Max

I broke a flywheel once. Sounded like a rod came loose when I let off the gas and took torque off the assembly!
