IAC gasket?
IAC gasket?
Where does everyone get the IAC gasket? It doesn't come with the throttle body gasket and I don't remember how I got one last time. I think it came with a different kit or under some weird name. I remember I had to order it though. Anyone?

Well this will probably kick you in the pants but the part only comes in a kit. This is the info for my 86 T/A
17113115
Gasket Kit - Includes the IAC Gasket, the Lower Cavity and TPI Plate gaskets.
This is basically a kit to totally service the Throttle Body. Believe me I searched for the IAC alone and as far as GM OEM gaskets it just wasn't available.

I need an IAC gasket also. What is a lower cavity--coolant passage on bottom of TB? It the TPI plate the TB plate? If so, I don't remember taking a gasket off of the plate when I took it off and the car has never been taken apart before.

Yes the top plate has a gasket. As well as the coolant cavity. It is a good idea to get the kit and split your TB apart. There is usually a bunch of crud and corrosion in the cavity.
This kit allows you to refurbish the TB and reseal it.

To the best of my knowledge this is a dealer only item. The part number is for an 86 T/A.
I can't imagine the part numbers being different but I would check for your specific application to be safe.

I couldn't find it anywhere but at the dealership in a kit. I'd already taken the IAC housing off the throttle body and mutilated the old gasket, but was too cheap to buy the whole set for one gasket. Instead I made a gasket out of RTV for it, and it apparently worked fine. Although I have the coolant TB bypassed so it's not as much of an issue for me.
Yeah, I'm bypassing the TB as well, but I wanted the IAC gasket. VisciousZ, did you connect up the stock hoses or use a new piece? I read in the tech article to buy a section of hose with a 90* bend so I did. At this point (with my intake off the car and a lot of other stuff taken apart), I'm not sure that the 90* was the best option, but I've seen that many places so that's what I bought. I guess I'll see when I start putting it back together.

Actually for my TB bypass, I used a formed hose, not just a 90º bend. It had a straight part, and then a sort of U shaped bend. I work at a parts store, so I was able to just dig through all the formed hoses until I found one that was the perfect shape. It was a Gates hose, but I can't remember the part number. I'll be doing the bypass on my new GTA as soon as I get it, so I'll find the part number then and post it on my webpage.
