That looks like a fairly well written article. It is good to see that they included the oriface tube in their conversion, since that will be crucial in best system performance. With the stock tube set, the expansion rate is too low to provide decent cooling with 134a. The rest of the article is just good common AC service practice.


The one thing lacking in the article is a mention of barrier hoses. Though maybe not absolutely necessary fot the 134a conversion, it would be an excellent time to change to barrier hoses, considering the originals are probably leaking anyway after ten-plus years of use.

retrofit

I have converted 3 of my vehicles with the Interdynamics kits bought from WalMart.They work fine.All I did was install new accumulators and replace the o-rings.The adaptors DO have their own schrader valves but I've had trouble with them leaking.All 3 cool to within a couple of degrees of when they contained R12.One of the cars is a 66 Impala.
