Tire Leaks

Hey

I have a 1985 IROC Z Camaro. The front drivers side tire has a slow leak in the tire. The leak is not caused by the tire itself but from the valve stem.... How do I fix it.

thanks

New rubber valve stem or get the bolt in type.

There are valve core removal tools that will tighten it up. Ive seen then at walmart for a few bucks.

sometimes the aluminum becomes pourous or develops small cracks over time and the rim itself leaks.

Depends, is it around the stem, or from the valve core itself. If it's the core leaking, go buy the tool. Take the core completely out, clean it up, put a little bit of dish soap on the seal and put it back in. Most tire shops should do that for free if you ask nice. If it's from around the stem, the tire will have to be taken off and a new stem put in. Where I used to work it was 3.50 for a mount and 1.75 for a stem.
