Wheels and Tires strange occurance...
A strange thing happened to me on St. Paddy's day on the way to work. I drove down my driveway and around a left corner when my tire rolled off the wheel towards the car.
No popping or tearing. Just rolled off. My car is lowered so I couldn't even get my foot under the car let alone a jack
so I had it towed across the street where they could look at it at the garage. Guys said wheel's fine, tire's fine, no damage. It just "slipped off". Has anyone ever heard of a tire just slipping off like that? The wheels/tires were in storage for awhile, and pressure was checked a day and a half before and was good. The garage said they resealed it back on, and it just came away from the bead. Go figure. Any input is appreciated. Thanks. -TS

I had it happen on one of our old vans when it slid in to a curb in the snow at about 30mph; but just from going around a corner?
Unless you are running an excessivley wide or narrow tire for the rim width, and/or super low air pressure, the tire shouldn't have come off, unless your rim doesn't have much of a lip on it. According to your sig, you are running 235s on 15x7s, but that sounds okay to me. The only thing I can think of is that the tires got a little stiff during storage, and they couldnt flex like they're supposed to.
You didn't get your tires from this guy, did you? ->:lala:
Just kidding....

Teal,
A 60-series tire should have enough sidewall flex to prevent bead separation. What was the tire pressure? (I KNOW it was zero after the tire came off!)
I would expect that you would run those at about 27-28 front and 24-26 rear at a minimum.

Nitros, not the Prostars)
NOT excessively wide or narrow, really...I am thinking maybe stiff and dry from storage. Thanks for you input!

tire separation update
Well if things could go any worse, they have. After having my tire remounted and sealed, it lasted maybe, 2 minutes. Same thing happened, same tire.
I am *$#ing sick of this and I am just putting my old prostars (dunlop gt qualifiers) back on until I get brand new tires for the nitros next year. Probably need to have the wheel checked, I have suspicions there is something wrong with it... Any suggestions on how to jack up a lowered car when you get a flat? Man I HATE having to call a tow for a freaking flat. My 2 1/2 tonne jack WILL NOT fit under the car when the tire is flat. We ended up jacking up the back, putting it on a block, then attempting to jack the front. What a freak show. Anyways she now has 3 nitros and one prostar until tomorrow when it is warm enough to finish the job.
Glad I don't have a LOW ricecar with extreme low profile tires, this would be an even BIGGER mess. Thanks for all you input. -TS

Wow, man, that realy sucks...........
There must be some kind of cosmic forces opposed to you having those tires. (Maybe they just like Pro-Stars
)
Maybe it's time for new tires.
As far a jacking goes...............The stock jack works pretty well, if all you're doing is changing tires.

Run the car up on a couple of boards until you can get the jack under it. Just stair step the boards so the car keeps getting higher. If a 2X doesnt fit use 1 in stock.

tire probs
I bought the tires and rims as a pkg. A guy I showed them to said the tire was too narrow for the wheel, case solved. I sold the lot of them. I am sticking to my new combo. Mickey Thompson Drag Radials and my Prostars.
