oil consumption problem
Hey guys, I have a 1988 Iroc-Z camaro with a 350 tpi.I check my oil every two weeks and I start to notice the level goes down. I add oil so that its full, but after two weeks it goes down to add. There are no leaks under the car and I was thinking could my oil rings be wearing out? Thanks for any input.
CR1,
It could be rings, valve guides, an intake gasket, or even just a bad PCV valve.
How many miles are on the engine? Have you done a compression test or cylinder leakdown test? Are there any modifications? The more data you can provide, the better. The lack of external leaks doesn't necessarily mean the engine is worn out.
