There is a plug just behind your dashboard next to the steering column. Use a jumper wire to ground a test terminal. The connector will have two rows of contacts. You'll want the two on the top ,and to the far right. With the car off ground the test terminal with the ignition key in the on position. Dont turn the car over. Wait to see the sequence of the check engine light flashes ,and write them down. Post the sequence here. I have a book that will tell what it means. One flash then two flashes should happen when you start. This will happen for three sequences. It means there are no stored messages on the ECM. If there is a trouble code or codes they will proceed this message.
Hope this helps.

Its on the interior of the car. Just look right below your steering column to the right. It may have a cover on it which you will need to remove to do the test. Its easy to find.

Hey thanx I found it! I got two codes....12 and 13. Actually I got them a bunch of times. What do they mean? The check engine light only came on when the engine was hot if that helps. thanks

OK the code 12 comes out atomaticle. It indicates the test terminal is grounded. The code 13 that preceeded it is a indication of either a sticking or mis-adjusted throttle position sensor or that your oxygen sensor has a problem with its connection or is bad. When you say engine is hot .Do you mean as in overheating?

No it doesn't overheat but I checked and the wire is broken on the oxygen sensor. Thanks.
