Splayed 4 bolt main questions

Someone please explain what this is...and the processes involved?

Isn't this what some engine builders do to 2 bolt mains? The two outer bolt mains go into the block?

Main reason I ask is that I would like to take my L98 (maybe), and build it pretty stout, and for some high rpm (6500-7000)...with the hopes of turning some naturally aspirated low 11s. The reason I would want to use the L98 block is due to certain rules at some tracks nearby, plus I can say its the same thing that came in the car (sort of). I believe I have heard of this being done to 327s. So why not a 350.

Splayed main bolts mean that the outer 2 main bering bolts on a 4 bolt block are angled outward this changes the the stress plain of the bolts and the cap so you have less cop flex and less bolt strech under load. Coulden't giv you a price estamate though thats one of those things you do when you hp realy gets up there, say 600 or 700hp and i'm doing fine with my 506hp 350 on a high nickel/tin regular 4 bolt block

The caps themselves were around $200-$400 and it seems like the labor to install was $150. That was a while back and I'm not positive on the price for the caps, but I know they are expensive.

went to 7000 on the dyno pull but I got peak hp at about 6400 but around the street I dont uasally go above 5000 by the way 506 hp is at the crank. when I get subframe connectors and a rollcage ($$$- I'm only an A1C in the USAF and I don't have much to play with) I'm going to race and i'll post my timeslip
