Help Me Build My Engine
well guys looks like the L98 in the 89' spun a rod or 2 or 3? it's dead. really sounds like crap. i would like to build a stout 350 with 450hp naturally aspirated and 550+ on juice
.
1.) L98 Block - any suggestions for mods on that power level (main studs? will it hold up while on juice? splayed mains?)
2.) AFR 195's or 210's? (street/strip)
3.) Miniram Intake
4.) Compression Ratio - thinking around 10.3:1 (the max for pump gas in other words/alum heads)
5.) Engine will spin about 6500-7000 RPM Max (if it is not needed to spin that high to make that power, that's great)
6.) I would like to use roller lifters (any suggestions)
7.) 1.5 ratio roller tip rockers. (alum not good here?)
8.) And most importantly cam selection.......
this is where i am stumped. i would like to use a roller cam. i am uncertain if the hot cam would support 450hp? what cam would support that power level? any and all suggestions are welcome. help me out guys. i'm trying to make a fourth-gen killer.
thanx.
Edit: 9.) The Crank - Forged Right?
10.) Pistons - Forged
11.) Rods - H Beam or I Beam (stock rods won't hold up):sillylol:

Oops , just saw you're throwing Miniram on there. What about exhaust? Get some SLP headers, normally as everyone on the exhaust board knows I'd recommend the Hooker cat-back, but with that much HP, a 4" system or duals might be the best way to go.

yeah i was gonna get the slp 1 3/4" non emissions headers. i was gonna make duals fit under car even though they might scrap over large bumps.
i assume i will need larger injectors to feed the beast. 24 pounders not enough? well keep the info coming. thanks.

If you're planning on running true-duals, why not look into a longtube header and ceramic coat them? No use buying the SLP shorties, then "dualing" them...I don't see much benefit, plus you're paying for a y-pipe you won't be using.

that's an idea.... long tube headers. i'm gonna need some ideas on making the true duals work.
