Who's running the Ling. 219 cam?
I'm trying to find out, based on experience, can I go to 1.6rr with the Lingenfelter 219 cam without changing springs? The heads are a set of AFR 190's. I know this is a popular combo and alot of guys are using it. So basically, will the springs that come on the 190's be OK to use with the 1.6's? Thanks.

I am in the process of changing to the LPE 219 on my IROC with AFR 190s right now. I emailed AFR months back and they said their standard springs (good to .550" lift) will be okay with up to .560" lift but that would about be the limit. As you know, the 219 cam with 1.6 rockers produces .560" lift....a little too close for me with their standard springs (even if AFR says it's OK).
Bottom line, I'd get new springs matched for the cam and install them at the proper installed height. Especially if you have a lot of miles on your heads, the springs tend to lose tension over time. Better to spend a little more and be safe. I got Comp Cams 987-16 springs (good to .600" lift) and matching titanium retainers. I'm waiting on my spring shims to arrive so I can get the correct installed height.
