Tires

Howdy....

Well time to buy new tires for my 84 Z28. I have some centerline rims on right now but am thinking about going back to the stock rim....either way the rims will be 15"

What size of tire can I use and what looks nice. I of course want a slightly more aggressive look than just stock.

I have heard 255/60/15's....anybody got pics?

Don't go bigger than 235/60/15, well I guess thats just my opinion. A bigger tire is only better on a bigger rim.

235/60 all the way around will probably be best. 255's are usually a bit much on the front. I used to run 245/60R15 back when I had 15's. They rubbed when turned all the way left or right. It's not a very good picture:

i have 235/60R15s on the front and 255/60R15s on the back. i had 235/60R15s on the back before, but i wanted a wider and taller tire on the back. i am sorry i dont have any pictures right now. my cousin runs a tire shop and the 255 width is the largest that can fit on 7" wide rim (at least in the 60 series). i use Kelly Chargers. i like the raised white lettering that is on them.

My borther has 265/50/15 Goodyear Gatorbacks on 7" rim on the rear of his Firebird. They are wide and really mean.

I'm running 265/50/15s on the back and 215/60/15s on front. They're BF Goodrich Radial TAs. These are the best pics I could find. You can only tell so much from these shots but in real life they look pretty wide.

darbleinad,
Sorry but I won't have anymore pics until this weekend. Believe it or not ground clearance is not a problem. I have not scraped once since have it put on. I have air shocks in the back to help with that. If only I had a way to let you here it.

My tires were so dried and worn out on the side walls I figured I'd better pick up some wheels soon. I got a set of 15 x 9's American Racing Stics 5. I rounded them out with 235/50r/15's.

Here's the link. I'll post some pics later.
