Something interfereing with crank?

Hey guys I just put a moroso oil pan #21807 on my motor, with pickup #24212 for my stock oil pump. There is no way the pickup could not have clearance because it has a bracket allows the oil pump cover piece bolts to go through it and keep it in one place. This pan does have a crankshaft scraper. If I overtightened the oil pan bolts, would this cause the scraper to hit the crankshaft??
When I turn the motor over by hand, it is fine until a certain spot (feels like one of the counterbalances is getting caught) then it just locks up.

I guess it's good I caught it now before I started it up. Does this sound like oil pan bolts too tight? what should they be torqued to? (SS summit bolts)

How much clearance are we talking about between the scraper and the crank?

John

the scraper would be my guess since they don't run much clearance anyway

thanks ede,
i tried tapping the scraper with a hammer to move it further away from the crank and I loosened all the bolts; watched the crank as I turned it. still caught.

And I figured out where. It's the actual pan itself in the front of it on the driverside.

I can't run it like this, I'll destroy the crank. I am extremely POed right now. How can they actually sell a $140 piece of sheet metal and not put the time and effort into making it actually fit. I tryed denting that part to, but it's right by the flange at the strongest part. I'm about to toss this in the trash.

BUYER BEWARE: MOROSO OIL PANS SUCK NUTZ

by any chance are you running a 383/400 motor? if so they will not clear most "stock replacements pans" in the jegs and summit books you see "will not clear 383, 400, or other long stroke motors. ya need a pan that is a tab deeper to clear the longer stroke. but if you are running a 305 or 350 i would try and get my money back for the pan. coulda been molded wrong at the factory or sumthin. by the way....i'm runnin a moroso pan and it clears my huge H-beam rods and counter weights by a mile in my stroker. and it was only $117 at jegs.

nope it's a 350 nuthin done to the bottom end. I kinda mangled it a bit too with the hammer trying to get it to fit right. I would return it but I bought it a while back from PAW and just now pulled the motor to install that aand replace the motor mounts among other things. I'll probably just bite the bullet and buy a stocker from GM, even though I also just bought the matching pickup for this pan. by the time I get it sent back to moroso and have them ship me a new one that still might not fit, It'll be three weeks from now and this is supposed to be my daily driver (although I havent been driving it much lately). I am about to give up on this. For the past six months I've had nothing but problems with aftermarket products and I'm pretty much fed up. They mass-produce all this crap, and still jack up the price like it has been hand-made. Because we're all falling for it by buying their stuff, and they've found they can get away with it.
