Cooling fan problems?

I'm stumped,

I have a 88 IROC 5.7 TPI, 700r4.

Both of my cooling fans come on/cycle @ 160 degrees. I also have a 160 degree stat which works fine. I was told by a mechanic who looked over my car that it needed a new fan switch.

Does this sound right?

Any suggestion?

Where is the fan switch located? I imagine it's on the block, I looked in my service manual, but I found nothing about it except for the wiring diagram. I looked for it on the engine and couldn't find it.

Thanks,
conbrio

Sounds like either your guage is reading incorrectly, or the switch is turning the fans on too early. Fan switch is in the passenger side head between 4/6 or 6/8 spark plugs. The guage sensor is between spark plugs 1/3 in the drivers side head.
