My friend has either a 85 - 86 camaro with the 2.8 fuel injected v-6 If someone is standing in front of the throttle body spraying starter fluid into it it will run,but as soon as you stop it shuts off.Does anyone know what's wrong with the engine and what can be done to fix it?

 

sounds like the fuel pump to me.. Do you hear the fp turn on ( short buzz or hum when you turn the key on?

 

He just replaced the fuel pump, you can here the fuel pump start up when you first turn the key.

 

beyond me Sure someone else will help ya though..Not much up on F.I. sorry.

 

i would check to see if you got fuel pressure. the pump can still run, but not be pumping any fuel. had this happen to me when i owned a 2.8l camaro. hope this helps

 

i would check the fuel filter or test the pump.....
