Non 3rd gen help 94 M*stang

But It's a only a 94 V6 Mustang. Anyway, my friend is experiencing "hesitation" when he gives it some gas, and this is becoming more frequent. He thinks it's the fuel filter, and wants to know where it is located so it can be replaced. What kind of procedures would I need to do? I've never worked on a Mustang before so I'm assuming, the filter is near the engine block (?) or in the fuel tank, and am going to somehow de-pressurize the fuel injection system, but have no clue how to do that.
Any help would be appreciated.

I doubt it's in either of those locations. It is probably under the car somewhere, just follow the fuel lines from the tank and you'll find it. Just remove the fuse to the fuel pump and run the car dry if you really don't want to get a lot of gas spilling. Remove the filter and replace.

ok dude heres what you do to depresurize the fuel system, first there is a front impact cutoff switch on all fords (atleast areostar vans) that turns off the fuel pump check the chiltons manual for location.... once you do this just crank over the engine.. it will run for a while... dont give it any gas!, that will reactivate the fuel pump ( this is a stupid system is it not?) and your back to square one, just let it sputter out and die, then your fuel system is depresurized

Ok, so how do you re-pressurize the system?

it'll repressurize by itself when you start it back up.... and just a word of warning - no matter how much you depressurize the fuel lines, you will always get some of it pouring out, so keep rags and a small bucket/plastic bowl ready. Also, i'd suggest doing this when the tank is almost empty... stupid me replaced the filter on my camaro last week on a full tank. The pressure from the gas inside the tank was enough to make it come pouring out (work jacket still smells like gas to this day...mmm..)
