Intermittent Problems, NEED HELP!!

I have been battling intermittent detonation for quite awhile now, see my post, https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...threadid=84592
since then, I took it out of the shop, took off the Vafpr and put back on the stock one, no change. I am getting a code 32(EGR), so I capped off the vacuum lines going to the EGR valve and solenoid and from the intake.

The seal between the front of the intake and the block on the drivers side leaks a little. The fan switch doesn't work.

I haven't found any common denominators between the times that it runs well, just seems to do it when it feels like it.

The cat back is removed and the cat is gutted. When the car runs like crap, it will pop and backfire loudly on deceleration( hot unburned fuel hitting cool air), but when it will run well, it doesn't do that.

When it runs like crap it has no throttle response and very poor acceleration. I have checked all the grounds I could find and all seem to be tight.

The oil pressure will go down(into the red) upon acceleration or hard cornering. The oil pressure sensor was replaced about six months ago.

I will post other info when I remember it, I really want to get this fixed!

Ryan,

It sounds like you may have several problems.

Have you verified the operation of the ESC with a timing light? Have you tried running with the ESC in bypass mode (set timing connector unplugged)?

Have you inspected the A.I.R. diverter valve for leakage and proper operation?

It sounds like you may be running rich and may have ignition timing issues.

what could cause me to run rich? I had the timing set at 0* by a shop, so it should be correct, but I will the check the operation of the ESC tonight. I have removed all my AIR stuff.
