Code 42 .....Pickup coil...Need help..ATTN VADER?

I've recently been getting code 42 which i think is with the EST spark timing. I just replaced the module when taking out the bolts holding the module were pretty rusty. I cleaned those down. Back on the road again code came back. before that the temperature gauge would shoot up especially on the freeway but now after replacing the module temps still pretty good. Car doesn't stall or hesitate. I don't the car off and on just to see if the code would go away but the check engine light still stayed on. I did disconnect memory to computer and the light went away as normal but the code resets again after driving on the freeway in overdrive if thats any help. The car has about 144k miles. I also needed to know how to check the pickup coil. I think maybe it's a little rusted out do to the fact the module bolts were rusty. Is the wiring still the same for the later 91-92 f-bodies? I have the separate coil type of distributor and i know the module is different than the one with cap in coil HEI's. Whats the color of the wires for the pickup coil and how do i go about checking the coil? I'm going to check some other connections such as the black/tan wire elsewhere int he engine compartment see if it's okay and also the connection to the computer. I 've read some other posts that others had a bad ecm. If i had to replace the coil will have to take out the distributor and disassemble it? I might as well get a whole new one then. Thanks if anyone can help out.

Anyone know what the ignition module bolt sizes are and where to get them? Later.

I can get you the ignition module bolts reasonable, but I will have to look up the 87-up style. I can get the 86-down style easily.
