scarry problem found..

ok 2 weeks ago I start getting this weird noise/vibration from under the hood.. I use the ol broom handle to listen around... what do you know it's coming from the water pump.. I thought oh no not the stewart pump after 1000km's..

turns out the damn bolts on the flex fan all came loose.. I had used blue locktite and also washers... I took it off and cleaned the threads and put it back with new locktite and no washers.. so far so good..

last nite I'm sitting at the Tim's drive thru and I can hear this tick/tock intermittent noise.. I pull infront of a light and pop the hood.. It wouldn't really do it when idling.. only in gear stopped.. I pulled up on the tensioner and I could hear it.. it was the ps pump.. the shaft would walk out of it a little and it would start making that noise.. I looked a little closer and not only was the shaft walking out but the whole ps pump was moving forward as well..

I come home pull in the garage and grab the light.. the two bolts one above the other on the bracket that bolts to the engine are both half out..errh... I tightened them up and the problem seems to have gone away..

question 1: is the shaft on the ps pump suppose to have a little in and out play? it doesn't have any side to side..

question 2: the stainless bolts holding that bracket .. should the be lock tite?

Yes, the pump shaft will walk in and out just a little.

I usually just put lock washers on the lower bolts and crank them down. Never had one come out.
