Urgent!!!!

O.k. decided to take off starter, the starter is all disconnected and i can't get it out? it gets stuck between the y pipe and the body what do i do, any tricks? Or m i going to have to take the y pipe off?

i will have the same scenario when my starter craps out.....looks like its torch time if its all welded

It can be pretty difficult, but it is possible to pull it out through there. Try pointing the starter up toward the front right of the car and twisting it around. If you still can't get it, some swearing and unbolting the manifold wouldn't hurt.

The OLD style starters wont always fit through without lowering the y pipe. Those things were a good bit larger than todays, replacement starters (which work just as well or better) When the original fourteen year old starter died on my t/a i had to take out the manifold-to-y pipe bolts and pull it down a couple inches.... no big deal really. Just soak everything down in penetrating oil first.

um guys? he has headers not manifolds........dont know the exact situation but my headers and y pipe are all welded........it will be a b****
