Is there a good step by step meathod available on the net for a Cam Swap in a SBC? Just wondering! Thanks!

 

I searched and could never find one...so I went at it alone. It went ok, but my front oil pan seal leaks a bit (I think I cut it trying to get the lower lip of the timing chain cover back in).

Is this for a 3rd gen, or another car?

Standard SBC install required removal of the intake/water pump/timing cover/pushrods/lifters. For 3rd gen, you'll also need to remove the radiator, remove or move the a/c condenser out of the way to make room for the cam as it comes out.

Not sure, but about your signature, you have a '91Z with TBI, did you change from TPI or is that a mistake.

The motor that is in the car was put in before I bought it, but it is engine #2. It is a 350 bored .040 over, with a TBI system. The stock 305 TPI was, shall we say, damaged, when it was hit with too much NOS... The intake was apparently beyond simple repair, and he had the ability to get a whole 350 with TBI for next to nothing... to save money, he settled on TBI. I'm going to go with LT1 Intake TPI soon, and am currently collecting parts to do this.

Bastard... We're tearing the NOS system out and the intake off tonight, water pump, and other such stuff that we have to do to get the cam out... I'll e-mail ya. Feel free to be involved anytime you want!
