oil pressure drops at 220

When I get my 305tpi lb9 running at 220 degrees, the oil pressure will drop from 30 to about 15. I had an oil and filter change about a month ago. Has anyone else had this happen? How much of a problem is this?

It's normal for when the car to heat up oil pressure drops, as the oil gets thinner. As to whether dropping to 15 is good, a good rule of thumb is 10 psi for every 1,000 rpms.

From: Newark,NJ The state where racing on I 78 rules.
I would switch to a thicker oil maybe 20w50 for summer time use.

If this is at idle, it's not a problem.. although the pressure change should be a gradual fall. If otherwise, your oil pressure sender may be giving you bad readings.

It is normal for oil pressure to drop as your engine temp. rises. Remember that hot cast iron expands.

Your pressure should be fine as long as it goes up with increasing revs.
