noise ordinances
a cop stopped by my house tonight, saying a neighbor complained about me 'racing' my car up and down the street while making lots of noise. stupid be-atch, i never had it over 30.
anyways, how do cities determine what's too loud? do they set a dB limit? my car came with the exhaust that's on there now so i don't know for sure what kind of muffler it is but there's a flowmaster sticker under the hatch so that's what i'm assuming it is. are all flowmaster mufflers 50 state legal? engine's got a hot cam so between that and the flowmaster it is loud but i dont think too loud.

been there, done that.
glasspacks, headers, catback systems and open exhaust were fun at first but grew old after a few years. now have stealthy cars with stock exhaust. neighbors windows don't rattle anymore when i drive by.
gotta say that the LS1 equipped fourthgen really moves, even when bone stock.

Just because you didn't go fast doesn't mean it wasn't loud. Sound isn't speed based
Too loud is disturbing. As long as you're 50 state legal in everything, it's a matter of being rude, not being illegal. Yes you can be cited for being loud, but only if the cops witness it. They'll give you a ticket for a couple of things, including reckless driving(unneccesarily quick acceleration) and something along the lines of disturbing the peace(noise from that).
While on this topic... these ******* kids ride dirtbikes around my neighborhood all the time and it's loud and annoying, but I know that sometimes when I work on my car, or my neighbor on his bikes, we make noise as well. I found that you just need an understanding with your neighbors.
I've found that turning your stereo down and just cruising by slowly is polite. Not many people with loud cars really do that, so when you do other people may appreciate it.
