temp gage not working

car's specs are in the sig. car came w/out an engine so i dont know if the gage ever worked. i bought a new temp sender and the gage never moves. when i ground the wire the gage pegs. i thought maybe the sender wasn't being grounded because of the teflon tape on the threads so i wrapped a wire around it and grounded it but still the gage won't move. any ideas?

Sometimes the gauges themselves stop working, since you bought a new sensor it should be the gauge. I just bought an autometer small one for like $30.

so even if the gage pegs when i ground the wire it could still be bad?

I'm not an expert on this, but there's only 2 parts to it right, the sensor (which you have a new one) and the gauge. Or am I missing something.
