modded 89 TBI or 2000 civic si

I have a 1989 firebird with a 305. I have open air element along with a edelbrock performer intake, tbi mods, pulleys, LT1 camshaft, edelbrock headers and flowmaster exhaust and high flow cat. I also have a summit coil, MSD wires, thermomaster chip. I plan on performing a complete porting job on the heads. They already have new springs and 1.94 and 1.50 stainless steel valves as well as a 3 angle valve job. I also plan on getting 3.73 gears along with a posi unit. The engine has alot of miles on it but the compression is still very strong. I also have an auto.
My question is could I beat a 2000 SI running a 60 shot of nos and a few other mods.

depending on what he has... but if its stock you SHOULD win... NOS and "other" mods... up in the air.He has around 200 HP/Trq with the V6 And is lighter. If he has the 60+ shot... depending on the "other" mods you might see tails...

thats not true, the new Civic Si has 160 hp at the flywheel, the Acura Type S has 200. They will go 0-60 in arounf 7.6 with a real good driver and pull low to mid 15s stock. With your mods i would say you have it no problem....be carefull with the NOS though...Good Luck

it will depend on how good the driver of the civis is. the 2000 si's come with the 160 hp 1.6ltr vtec 4 cyl's (b16a). if he knows when to pop his nos and gets it into the right part of the powerband quickley he might beat ya. those things are pretty light.

Well you should be seeing some decent hp #'s by eliminating a few TBI weakspots. 3.73's will really help the th700r4 and I think you should be able to hit low 15's high 14's.

Why are you bothering with the stock heads? Go get yourself some L31 Vortecs or S/R Torquers. Then you will smoke him for sure.
