The two turbocharged ones I looked up have either 150 or 174 horses, your's stock has 135 (Plus add up all your mods). His curb weight is just around 3000 pounds and yours is at 3100. If he has the 174 hp one, and you beat it, it will be a feat! And if he has the 150 hp one I think you should be able to take it. The one with 174 horses will be the one to look out for. I think that ones called a shelby. Did you know that the daytonas are where the iroc name went!
I don't know any quarter mile times just giving you the facts. Good luck and I hope you win!

3100 We must weigh even more than that. I think your on the 50/50. The turbo will usually eat our V-6's. But There is always a chance his car is beat. Or that you he sucks at driving etc. Good luck go Womp him.

apparently 2.2L turbo's can move, but i've never had experience with one. I used to dust my friends ole' 2.2 L N/A daytona weekly, and by car lenghts upon car lenghts. then he brought out his 68 camaro...damn. neway, good luck with the daytona, but u might have bitten off more than u can chew, or it'll be a run for your money. GL either way.

1984 2.2 n/a 93HP
2.2T 142HP 160 LB FT
same thing up to 86 model years where the 2.5 NA came out.. 96 HP.
1986 the Carrol Shelby (C/S) came out with a suspension package on the turbo cars
1987 (models: Daytona, Daytona Shelby Z, Daytona Pacifica)
turbo I - 142HP
turbo II -174 HP (intercooled)
(the C/S package got the Turbo II and suspension upgrade from here up t'll 91, i do belive)
in 91 and 92, there were Turbo III's and Turbo IV (VNT)
turbo III's pushed out 224 HP in 92
the Turbo IV in 89 had 174 hp but had the VNT (to reduce turbo lag)
rare are the daytona R/T's produced in 92.. twin camed 2.2 turbo III (intercooled).. lotus developed heads.. top speed of 150 mph, only available in a 5 speed maual
1993 last year production
part #94529533, list price 975$ for a RWD dragster conversion kit for the daytona in 92
i got bored once and looked this up as a possible communer/daily driver car with some *****, test drove a couple.. lots of ball joint/tie rod failiure because of the TQ the turbo's push.. and it's FWD.. so.. poor front suspension parts.. the ones i test drove (a 86 turbo I and a 89 Turbo II C/S) both spun the tires easily.. but.. when u gun it and the weight goes to the back and the 205 front tiers have no more weight on them, they spin pretty freely.....

v6camaroman, that sig is extremely long. anyhow, my brother has an 87 daytona four speed. it isnt turbo, and it isnt fast. hes gotta dump the clutch at about 4k to roast the tires, and even then it doesnt spin much higher then that. the turbo model like it says has some power, so look out if its in good shape. my brothers was rear ended and it was about 800 dollars in damage and needless to say its now got a salvaged title and a dented gas tank.
DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THESE CARS!!!
I have a friend that owns one, and I have worked on the car a lot. They will destroy a V6 fbody. Back when I had my '85 we ran them and it was the most even race I have ever been in. His mods were muffler, adjustable wastegate, larger TB, larger injectors, reprogrammed MAP sensor. He runs 18LBS of boost, and I am sure he is running high 14's at the slowest. There are many of these cars running 12's, just not with the stock turbo.

Dude I hope you beat him. Its a fast car, but remember desktop dyno puts your 2.8 at around 200 horse. Even with accesories and such, I'd bet you have around 170 or so. Given that you have traction advantage, youve got a decent shot. Those cars can haul with a different wastegate. i considered getting one to replace my camaro, but decided not to. That wastegate is the thing to watch out for.

I drove an 89 2.5 Turbo Daytona with a 5-speed over the winter. These cars are quick. It's no match for my 355, but I barely beat my friends 99 V6 Grand Prix. So I'd say it would depend on the driver mostly.
I own a 1988 Chevy Camaro V8 305, TBI, auto with over drive. I also own an 1988 Dodge Daytona Shelby Z 2.2 Intercooled Turbo. Only mods are a Grainger valve to controll boost a K&N airfilter and a 3" exhaust. I love my Camaro, it's fast, but my Shelby will eat it alive in a quarter mile. Both cars are well taken care of. You better hope your racing for about 3 miles and then you should be able to catch him but with your V6 in a quarter mile your toast. Not trying to be mean I just drive both types of cars.
