I was taking my girlfriend home and I see a car with blue sidemarkers and clear tails in a gas station as I go by. I was hoping he'd be turning behind me, and he does. Its a 35, so I slow down to 35 and he won't pass me. I slow to 30 and he pulls up next to me and revs. I look over and its this kid from my gym class (not a typical *****, he's got a sense of humor about his car- he claims to do wheel stands in reverse and brags how his wing adds 250 HP- sarcastically of course). Anyway, I rev back and we miss one light. He's turning left so I get over in front of him to turn left. I turn into the left lane and he goes into the right. Theres a cop with someone pulled over in his lane, so he gets behind me till we pass the cop, then gets over again. We get just over the hill so the cop can't see us, and he's along side me. I look over and nod, and take off from 35. Right away I put a car length on him til I was about 1 1/2 up at 60. I let off a little, thinking he wasn't really racing, then he guns it so I half throttle it and still pull farther on him. At 80, I had 3-4 car lengths on him. It was horrible. I asked him at school if he was actually racing. His reply: 'Yeah man.. I guess I can't run with the V8's yet"

There is a eagle talon at my college with what appears to be the back half of a Boeing 747 mounted to the back of his car. WHY? Its an american car for one, its stupid ugly, dumb an eysore and the car is a Eagle Talon.

Why does that make some of you so mad?
And why do some many people stereotype cars just becuase of the name?
I personally think the best car would be one with different parts from different makes as theres is no perfect car company, and which is why we have an aftermarket, to achieve what you desire in your car that the factory didnt install.

I have been off the road for about 2 almost 3 years. In that span of time those imports with the stupid wings and chrome 4 inch exhaust are everywhere. There were a few around back then but not like now. I cannot wait until I get back on the road just to waste a couple of them. I guess they spend the money on those wings and 20" rims because they really don't have any motor parts to throw on.(OOh I just put on a header now i'm upto 140 horse)

 

Yeah my friend with an 88 IROC with 3.27s, vette heads, SLP headers and Y-pipe, and dynomax exhaust wanted to race this kid but he said only on the highway. So after I killed him starting from 35, I asked him if he wanted to go from a light and he said "No way man, I'll lose even worse"

Well Bluebird, it seems that you have alot of hate built up towards import enthusiasts, but I'll answer your question. I post on this website to hopefully help others with any info I might have regarding any mods they want to do, and I also post here to learn from other 3rd gen owners. I dont own an import myself but I do find the style attractive and they can be fast when people build them correctly. There are also a few members on this board with 3rd gen's as well as imports. I dont think its cool for you to stereotype *all* import drivers as idiots but you say whatever you want. I have lots of friends with imports that look cool and perform very well and they are good natured people. Their 'WOK on WHEELS' run in the 11 - 12 second 1/4 mile range and pull over 1.1 g's easy. Not too bad if you ask me.

I'm friendly to anyone who is a car enthusiast, be it import or domestic. Both groups have their fair share of idiots and both groups have people who know what they are doing. Untill you know someone personally, it seems ignorant to me to hate on them because of what they drive.

I disagree on the quote of "many third gen owners own (woks on wheels)" I find that hard to beliueve.. most people on here post messages like mine and agree with my rice theory. and I still say regardless.. this is a third gen website and I dont think people should talk about rice **** on here being that its a thirdgen site for thirdgen American muscle cars. Ive seen people on here that own other carts than a firebird.. I own a chrysler truck.. but you dont see me posting anything about it on here cuz this site is for the car only!

this 70 Pontiac GTO Judge which was parked in the parking lot at the end right by the drive thru, and this Integra drove thru, and this japanese dude or whatever said to his foreign buddy in the passenger seat.. "hey Look at all those gay pushrod engine cars"
and they started laffin.. and thats not the first, I can name
some other ones too.. I think I will...

Went to fast n furious, this dude named CAM who has one of those Accords says to my friend Jim, that old car in the film is deserved to get hit, our cars our so much faster than those gay old cars anyways.

I was driving down a road in Rockford and a type R pulled up next to me and started laughin at my car, I rolled down the window, and I said, "hey.. I hear just having that sticker on your car makes yer car faster is that true?" they just revved up their fart pipe and floored it sounded like a hornets nest.

No matter what.. personal opinion, I think the cars

hey bluebird, i'm from rockford too, i met u at beefaroo at that little meet we had. (i have maroon 91' z28) well anyway, have u seen that red integra w/ a fake Type-R badging on it and it has a "SUPERSTREET" windshield sticker on it. i'm lineing up a race w/ him soon, or if i get him at a stop light sometime, gonna show that riceburner a real man's car. lol

I'll post the info bout the race after it goes down. hopefully soon, maybe if weather is nice this weekend.

 

I'm going to have to say that I'm with bluebird. I was raised around american muscle and have a deep respect for american cars. I HATE imports. Plain and simple. Noone will ever convince me that they are anything but trash. I may be closeminded but I have my reasons. I also hate the majority of *******s who drive those damn things. Stereotypes were created for a reason!!

While I agree some ricers do have attitudes, some are cool. In my auto body class at school, we have quite a few f-body owners (17 students- my 89 IROC, an 88 IROC, an 83 Z, a 92 Z, and a 87 TA) There is one kid with an Integra with a fart can and some stickers. Anyway, the kid with the 87 TA said jokingly that he wants to put a wing on it thats taller than the car. The ***** kid didn't know he was joking, and he even said "What's wrong with you? Its an AMERICAN car!" But it also could have been that he's outnumbered 5:1.

So when I see a *****, I don't immediately hate the driver. I may think their car looks terrible, but some of them know that its all show and no go. Some are all about show and not about go. If they start ripping on American cars and muscle cars, thats when I start to hate them.

 

Here's a question.... I saw a ***** today with TWO wings on the back. Might have been a CRX or something. It had one of the huge double-tier wings on the very back, and a smaller wing on the back of the roofline, just above the glass. Do two wings give you more downforce, or is it just a ***** trend?

How old ARE you guys.

There are a gazillion "rice rockets" out there that would waste half of the thirdgens on this whole damn message board. They may look goofy but there are a lot of quick ones, and just because your car is a v8 doesnt mean that itll win. Hell, L03's are known to make 16+'s in the quarter mile. The only near stock 305's I have seen break out of 15's are the 5 speed TPI 305's.

You guys are in for a reality check. The import sense of style is one thing, but speed is speed, and a lot of you better get it or shut your damned mouths.


Oh and for the spoiler comment. They have to keep their rear wheels pegged on the ground through a corner just as much as a RWD car does. Just because the drive wheels are elsewhere doesnt mean they can just let the wheels skid wherever and not be worried. *** damn, think about what you are saying.

I am just getting tired of people calling rice on people and labeling cars as crap when there are craploads of them running 15.0 quarter miles, which is as fast or faster than a huge portion of the thirdgens on the road. Don't get me wrong, I dont think modding an economy car is cool either, I am just trying to make certain peoples put their money where their mouth is. Of course I don't mean you, I am sure your car can handle its own just fine, as well as many, many others. But the fact remains that there are a lot of imports that can hold their own as well.

Ok man I specifically made reference to thirdgen 305's. I was not including fourthgens. Is that had to understand?

I'm 19 and a freshman undergrad at Texas Tech University. Try me.

Anyways, look at the production numbers of the 305 TBI or lesser motor thirdgens as compared to the number of 350 or TPI 305 cars. You will notice that the huge majority is not on the 350 side by any means. That means, by and large, there are more slower thirdgens out there than fast ones.

My comments were for certain eyes to read, not everyones. If you have a 12 second car, I am obviously not talking to you. However, I am making comment about the large amount of 305 TBI owners who think they are tough ****, and can get spanked by a Honda.

As for your comments about "rice going up to a 396, etc."

A twin Turbo totyota supra blew the doors off a Hennessy Venom Viper last year. Spanked the **** out of it. The viper was said to have over 600 hp.

Just because you have cubes doesnt mean you will always win. For domestic comparison, how many of you think you can handle a modded grand national?

You guys are so closed minded. Its getting really easy to seperate the true enthusiasts in this crowd.

Ive been to a 1/8 mile track a lot.....ive never seen a 3rd gen loose to rice...i have seen STOCK automatic 5.0 stangs rape
turbocharged civics and integras....ive seen a car that a guy spent $5K total on....and it beat a integra with $15K in mods (not including the price of the car)....

Heres my list on why to have a 3rd gen...

1. They are not as pricey as ricers are
2. Faster than MOST ricers (not all....if you have a $50K *****)
3. we dont put ugly bodykits and wings on our car that slow us down
4. We dont have oil drums as exhaust pipes
5. its american (made in the USA)
6. creates more hp stock than most ricers will EVER get
7. our cars arnt so low that on the highway they bounce up and down.
8. they sound a HELL of a lot cooler
9. they are easier to repair
10. we have 2 headers instead of 1....

I could go on for days..

I have had my share of *** spanking by imports (usually supras and vr4s) but there's always the occasional turbo crx . Anyway i understand where you are coming from on the rice issue. BUT, I never said rice.....just to clear things up.

As for the double standard. I wasn't talking about the spoiler issue. I was refering to the fact that you had just cut down a majority of the people on this site. Then you went on to tell us (whoever you were refering to) to shut our mouths. Then you said "think about what you are saying". Just thought that was a little ****ed up. There are more implications than this though, just too lazy to go into them.

1) I've personally seen a TT supra run a 6.23et 1/8 mile spinning most of the way. I know that its time would kill a viper (which I've also seen run but not against the supra).

and..

2)i have a friend who has a honda civic running 8.40s in the 1/8. He spent $3000 on everything including the car. This is very rare though. You'll probably never see this.
