Raced an Eclipse Turbo

He was following me for a little while and then he pulled next to me at a light. When it turned green I took off normal and then I heard his turbo spooling up (his engine was next to my open window). So I nailed it when he was about even with me, I spun but I got better traction than usual. By the end of 1st I had put a couple car lengths on him, so I shut down because it was a well patrolled area near a major mall. He got in behind me and stayed a ways back, he never tried to race again. It was a stock looking 1998 or 1999 Eclipse Turbo 5spd.

Good run man! Some of those can be pretty quick if they turn up the boost. It wasn't an AWD was it?

I'm not sure if it was AWD. Oh ya he was racing, you could really hear the turbo and the engine winding. When I launch right my car is a rocket, but most of the time I can't launch without roasting the tires, I'm going to buy some Nitto drag radials by mid summer and those should help out a lot.

Yea, it wasn't much of a race, and not even close to a challenge, but whats the point of going any faster when you have them beat? I just wish I would run against somthing that would give me some competition. I know I'm not even close to being the fastest car around hear, but it just seems like everyone has an import and there's no competition there. I know there are a few 11 and 12sec 5.0's around but I never run into them. Is it like this everywhere (all imports no domestics around) or is it just a problem where I live?

Here in MI (metro Det area), it's still mostly domestics (lots of new mustangs and camaros), but imports are starting to make inroads here too . I did see 2 2nd gen camaros this weekend in my neigbourhood that I have never seen before. My subdivision is really small, I know most of the cars and 99% of the fast cars. they both sounded so sweet and looked freshly restored.
