One win, and almost pulled over :)

Heading home yesterday for lunch, I left everyone in the dust at a light, only to have what appeared to be a white integra with a body kit, pull out and try to catch up to me.

I settled on the speed limit to let him try and catch me. As he got closer I realized it wasn't an acura, but a newer eclipse with a body kit, and some stickers. I also realized that he wasn't slowing down to try and race, so I nailed it while his front bumper was at my door.

He pulled even with me, then stopped pulling, and I began to pull away from him more and more quickly. When I put a car length on him, I stuck my hand out and gave him a thumbs up for the race.

I am not sure, but I thought I heard a turbo, but I think if it was turbo'd he would have beaten me, especially with the fact that he was already passing me... probaly my imagination. (my timeslip in sig)

I almost (probably should have) got pulled over later that day on the way back from setting up a roth ira with Legg Mason. I opened it up in the HOV lane and blew by an unmarked crown vic going 100, and slowed down hard. He proceeded to pace me, then realized I knew what he was, so as he passed me he waved his finger at me (not his middle one)with a big frown on his face. I got real lucky.

I know the Eclipse has what? 200 hp? What about the turbo version? The body kit looked tasteful, and the paint was pretty nice. Good looking car for an import :P

The new Eclipses don't come with turbo's yet as far as I know, and I'm not sure if there's an aftermarket one yet. It could've been one of those open filter intakes, if you are like right next to them when they get on it, they go 'kshhhhhhhhhhhhh' alot like a turbo(at lest to me it sounds that way).

yeah the newer eclipse's aren't turbo'ed, though they are probably some kits out there, if he was turbo'ed he probably would've put up a better fight

I had a brand new eclipse mess with me when I was down at Oklahoma University. This guy had EVERY ***** part and had the LOOSE shocks and springs so when he was going down the road it was bouncing all over the place and he had he stereo with it. He asked if I wanted to race and I about died laughing and he was like what and Im like what you think all them stickers and crap make you fast and he tried to power brake it and nothing happend so I looked for the school cops (they where out in force that night) and lit em up and he was just far enough back to have my smoke go into his car then I eased up and went on my way only to see him blast past me and the school cop in front of me OOPS

Thanks.. I wouldn't mind losing to a turbo Porsche. I'd love the opportunity to race one. After I lose, I can do a 100mph flyby, weave in and out of traffic, and say, "Why not take the turbo off, and try again?" at the next light.

Kidding, of course. Porsche makes great cars, but a little overpriced for me.

Go look up a early to mid 80's 924 or 944 they will go from 3 grand to 11 and no more and with about 800 bucks you can get them into the 12's and still whip around the corners
My dad got his for 3 grand and fixed it up.
I have seen 944 turbos spank moded early 4th gen TA's

Hey Clint,
In your sig you mention Toyo Potenza tires. Actually the rear tires are Toyo Proxes Z1. I should know, I paid $325 for the 2 tires you have on your car.

I like the way they look. I found a few turbo cars for 8600 - 10k. If I wasn't try to save money, I would go down and test drive one. Boost is a force to be reckoned with . I am going to be re-doing my exhaust system (change glasspacks to flowmasters, better headers), and I must say turbocharging seems pretty inviting

I have a friend Lenny with a 95 Supra TT who put about 1k dollars into a 4" exhaust and 3" downpipe, plus a fuel management system, and some other stuff, and he is pushing about 450 at the crank. I don't remember what he dyno'ed at the wheels. Maybe I can get a couple turbo's off of those large dumptrucks,

Clint

Yeah boost is good LOL I know a guy around here with a TT Supra that looks bone stock and it runs an 11 flat and still needs some tuning, talk about a sleeper.

Hey Clint,
My brother tore up Lenny's Supra the other night. I guess the 4.10 gears and cutout helped a great deal on the Trans Am.
Lenny was pissed. My brothers 96 T/A is only pushing 350hp at the crank.
I can't wait to drop in my motor, it should be faster than my brothers.

Did Lenny screw up? or did Leno have too much off of the line for Lenny?

Tell your bro I said good job.

The rear is holding up just fine. They raced from a 60 roll. Lenny's car was running great as was my brothers.
