How often do you refuse a race and why?

So I was going down the main highway out here (rt 13) and I drive by a side road where this red Neon is waiting to pull out, it's got rims and stupid *** red bands across the windshield and rear window, a couple stickers I can't read from afar and I could see a couple interior mods... seats and maybe a red colored steering wheel... I was goin 60 when I passed by it. Anyhow, it looked to be a stock Neon Sport from the exhaust and low spoiler. (BTW it's a girl behind the wheel and a girl in the passenger seat)

I continue down the road putting the neon out of my mind and sure enough, when it got the chance it pulled up next to me, my windows were down and theirs were too and I can hear a sound system blaring... the girl in the passenger side yells out "Lets go!" and if you know me I despise neons, I shook my head no and gave a laugh... they seemed to try to catch me at a light (I just hung back), but I didn't bother... not worth my time, plus the cops are out in force these days... They made some sort of gesture when they pulled off, it was either the birdie or a waving motion for me to follow... I didn't really care though LOL

SO what races do you refuse and why?

I usually dont bother with the plain cars. Like I'll usually race any V8 or ***** (You know body kit, fart tip...etc) Just because I like putting them in there place

But If I was in the same situation as you, I wouldnt of raced either.

Like this one time, these 2 guys in a crappy Lumina were trying to race me, pffft give me a break. I just laughed and wouldnt go. No need to watch my gas gage shoot down to E if im not going to even enjoy the race myself.

I refuse a lot of races now that I was caught racing a while back and had to go to court and all that. I've probably only had one race since then and that was a year and a half ago. I always get people in SUV's gunning it on me and such.

There are very few V8 cars in my area, so i don't like up to many that often. My area is pretty much rice city but after a few encounters with a bunch of the local "rice crews", they don't even try anything next to me anymore

I usually only race cars that look like they might keep up or beat me or the people are just being asses to everyone on the road. Other than that I just turned down the 1984 Civic with only a fart can because it is not worth the loss of gas or the risk of getting caught. I turn down races also if it is an area that there are lot of people at risk. Such as down a street with quite a bit traffic. I think its stupid if there are people around. I know I would be upset if I was hit by people racing. If the road is clear and there are no peds then I would consider a go. Unless it is a Z06, LS1, or pumped up muscle car trying me Tehn I just want to get beat to see their cars go.

Here's a funny story for ya.
One day I was going home when I had my '85 Stang 4" Cowl hood, wing and some rims. It was a 4banger, but it looked tough and I knew it was slow, before rice became popular. Anways, this old 70s truck w/exhaust and wide tires got beside me and revved while we were doing like 60.
I had 2 friends in the car and we just laughed and the guy saw us. I guess he figured I didn't want to waste my gas on his "slow" truck, when really I knew there wasn't anything I could do.
It was funny.

to me street racing is getting pointless, not worth getting nailed with a ticket and pts.

The car has to impress me for me to race, like stated by other people i'm not gonna run some punk *** kid in a beat up accord or whatever just to prove my car is faster...what's the point? Now if another fbody stang or a LEGITAMATE imports pulls up, sure i'll run...i'll occasionally stomp a few ricers if i'm in a bad mood, sometimes puts me in a better mood

i was on the highway one time. i was just cruisin at 65. there was an rs ahead of me. he was goin really slow. so i decided to pass him. i just passed him normally(i didn't rev it up or anything like that) and go in front of him. then he comes next to me and nod his head like he wants to race. i said know. so he gave me the finger and took off. that kid was lucky i didn't race him because i found out later that it is just a stock six. i really hate some people.

i also don't race punks (or momas boys)who have faster cars than me.

I've raced a few times, but honestly don't bother much. I'll mess around with my freinds, or somone who's really bugging me, but thats about it. The Police presence here is just too strong, plus there aren't that many races I'll win anyway. So it ends up not really being worth it, at least until my cars faster.

I generally only refuse a race if:
a) the wife and kids are in the car
b) The Po-Po is around
c) the gas gauge is sitting on "E"
d) something is wrong with the car.

I actually don't race much, as I only take the Camaro out once a week or so. Mostly rice around here, and none of them want to play.

I did spank a Bronco one night. Off-road tires, jacked up, probably a 302, obvous dual exhaust and glasspacks, as it was almost as loud as mine. Rolling start from about 35 or so. I heard his exhaust pick up LOUD, so I said, "what the hell" and stepped on it until it started to bog (secondaries don't work right), backed off just till the engine picked back up, and had him by about three lengths at 90 mph.

I refuse a race when someone pulls up to me and I dont hear that "worked" rumble from the car. I want a challenge if I'm going to waste 1/4 of a tank of gas.

I refuse races only if I see a cop, or if my girlfriend is in the car. She hates it, and I respect that. Other than that, it's on .

I have a STOCK 305 with 165 horepower and 240 ftlbs of torque and a stick. I have a 3:23 open gear...and about 100 pounds of stereo equipment. I believe in the power of these cars and I have to say have never race anything and have owned it for 3 years. This car is VERY slow and I don't want some punk kid to beat me and think he can take a camaro, or says it to his buddies. I just disregard they are there and just keep going.

I have an LG4 myself, and I admit it isn't the fastest thing on the road, but I have yet to go down to a neon... and I am only about a length behind my friends '85 mustang GT. I don't know exactly all that has been done to my engine, but I really don't think I'm pushing more than 170 Hp... I really don't care if some punk beats me, because he/she probably knew they could do it...

Anyhow, a couple more summers and there won't be many cars beating me... low 13 I'm thinkin' by next mid-summer... maybe a mid 14 this summer.

Since I've gotten the '98 t/a, I have refused quite a few races. I will only race on the street if I am in a desolate "race spot". Its not that Im a wuss, but with the new car I hit 100mph way too fast...and I dont want to loose my license or get a ticket because of a race that I know I was going to win anyway. When someone serious steps to the plate, I motion them to pull off the road and talk about where we can go and how much $$ is on the line.

When my car was up, I tried to get races sometimes. But sometimes I just wasn't in the mood. I would make an exception if a ***** made me mad enough and thought he was fast. I did like to street race though, it's just the feeling of it I guess. Anymore though it seems like Saturday night isn't even worth going out for b/c it is turning into a damn social event. Not to mention the ricers follow us everywhere, and bring the cops with them

i only race my buddies cars.. other then that i don't race on the street (maybe a stoplight takeoff, but i quit when i hit the speed limit or a bit after)
if it's not a 1/4, it's not a race, if it's not safe, it shouldn't be a race in the first place..

I never refuse a race. I like crushing peoples ego's, namely ricers. When I race a car thats supposed to be fast its not really about crushing egos though, its about having fun. Heres an example of never refusing a race. A couple years ago I was driving my car, then a 86' Pontiac Fiero SE, down the road. I pull up next to a Viper and rev a little. I knew he could beat me like I was going backwards bt I didnt care. I did it mainly to see what it could do. When some ***** or just a punk pulls up next to me all I want to do is let them smell my tail smoke.

Since i have an 170 hp LG4, i will usually loose anyways, and i will only race people i know, just for fun.. The main reason is that if i race a punk and he beats me, since my car IS a Trans Am, which is supposed to be fast, he will think he is fast as a result, so i am not going to give him the satisfaction......

you have to consider if it is a POS that wants to race then is it worth getting a ticket or worse getting you car taken
thats not good!!!!!!!
i like racing cars that give me a challege and im not sure that i will beat
thats what makes it fun but i must admit i have indulged in burning a couple of ricers just for the shear joy of it and laughing at them after
me and my boy if we are driving side by side we alway f**k around
my friends have '88 rustang 5 speed with a '95 cobra motor(he kills me),'98 ram air trans am 6 speed(kills me worst),84 Firebird SE 5 speed LG4 and 3.73 gears(i beat him but is quick for having an LG4),2001 saturn(HAHAHA),and 94 stealth (i beat)
i love racing
