V6 firebird vs. LO3
ok theres this kid that goes to my g/f's school that i raced last week when he was in his corsica.he claims to have beat me because i didnt pull away from him too fast while he had 2 other skinny little punks in his car and i had her(shes 120lbs) in my car and a full tank of gas.so today i get a call from my g/f saying that he got up in her face today and started bashing me about how my car is slow and what not.she just started laughing at him and his stupid remarks.so first off hes getting his *** whooped for getting in her face like that.second im just gonna challenge him to race me in both his corsica and his V6 firebird.i know i dont have to worry about the corsica.but his firebird i only have a little doubt about.all he has done is a CAI i think and a flowmaster muffler.its also an auto and i believe might have a system.my mods are in the sig.i should be able to beat him right?im thinkin so,just wanted to see what you guys think.

um.....i have beaten at least 5 or 6 L03 in my 3.1 liter. No
here either. So i don't know about the difference between a 2.8 and a 3.1, but mines has done it before. But then again i have lost to them 2. So just my .02 cents

well what i said was if the firebird is modded like iam then the lo3 is gonna have a serious problem
otherwise unless hte bird is a really good driver the lo3 is goonna win...(most likely leave him at the start due to the torque differnece)

I don't believe you are lying, but something must have been wrong with the LO3 or you weren't racing that far, cause there's no way you could have beaten a V8, and I'm not saying that cause "All V8s are G0D", but why would GM produce a V6 base model faster than any V8 of a similar year. Disclaimer , except the TTA.

stock to stock i think the lo3 has 150hp compared to a 140hp in the 3.1......
the torque in the lo3 is much higherr than the 3.1 but i think the lo3's tq is only gonna help him pickup much faster but once both cars are moving the 3.1 has the advantage as its lighter...
but id say its the drivers race here.....

LO3 had 170hp from the factory. thats 30 more than a 3.1L. very similar in power with a LG4. quarter mile times in the low 16s. whats a stock V6 fbody run?
89camarorsV6 what are you running?im figuring that my lo3 is atleast up to 180 with the open element,K&N,catco cat,and 80 series.i know those should be good for atleast 10 hp.i should definetely have him,no matter if its a 2.8 or 3.1.its gonna take alot for him to get his 135hp up to 180.
Just my opinion, I just think theres no way a lightly modded 3.1 can beat a lightly modded L03. Im sorry, the LO3 has more power and a lot more torque. As someone who owns a 2.8 and an LG4 (both 84's, the 2.8 is a goodwrench replacement) I can tell you that the 2.8 has no chance in hell of staying anywhere near the LG4. The L03 should stomp him, no problem. And dont near stock 3.1's only run like 17.4 in the 1/4? Go for it and smoke him.
