what are quarter mile times on a stock l69 in an 84 t/a w/700r4 and stock for stock what other thirdgens could this car take with 3.73's? Also what are your general opinions on these cars speedwise? Im buying one to replace my 83 lg4 bird and im wondering how much better this will be. Thanx

hey whats up. i basically have the same car(but its a camaro). i posted this once and got some responses. they all said that i could expect mid to high 16s. i should be going to the race track in a couple of weeks for the first time. ill post what i run for you if i go. my opinion is that you could probably run a low to mid 16.

The L69 is a little better than the LG4, better cam, slightly better exhaust. But with that you'll probably end up modding it, so I don't see it worth selling the old to get a new car, when the old can be modded just as good. I'd say you're looking at a high 15 at best.

actually the reason im getting the 84 ta over my 83 se is that my 83 met with a semi about a month ago and the 84 ta is in unbelievably good shape and ill only be its 3rd owner and first guy owner. Anyway how does the l69 rate against all other thirdgens?

i have a 84' Z28 LG4 auto that is 100% bone stock, and it ran a best of 16.2 at 85mph. the L69 has 40hp over my engine, so id guess with good driving, traction, and launch you should see mid 15s. id rate them about equally with the auto TPI 305s

l69s also had 9.5:1 compression where the lg4 had 8.5:1 (i think)
due to dished pistons in the lg4.

l69 is definatley in the top two 305s. LB9 being the other. I like it cause it's a carb and easier to mod.
