out on a road not far from me. guys from my area should know the road. it was normantown rd runs along the railtracks off of 95th street.
any way i'm taking a buddy home from work and i stop to do a burn out for him just when i start smokin'em i see a yellow stang w/ a black hood. turns out it was carbonfiber. which i happen to think looked really cool.
I wave him up beside me conversation goes like this
him" nice burnout"
me "thanks nice car wanna run'em"
him "yeah"
he gets about half way past me and then i go. i had him by the time i shifted to 2nd ran up to 100mph slowed to a stop he gets back beside me and asks?
"is that a 350"
i say "yep"
he says" lets try again"i just nodded this time with a grin he counts to 3 and we go again to 100mph i won that one by an easy 7 cars.
we both pulled over and checked each others cars out then went on are way
all people should be as cool as this guy was

Nice kill! Be careful about posting locations of races...and be careful of normantown!! I was lined up next to a cobra there at around 2am when a sheriff pulled up behind us. We've been staying away from there ever since.

I love beating cobras. My buddy has a '97 that I smoke all the time

so u beat a 97 cobra by 7 cars??? that means ur running about a 13.2??? i belive u could do that to a GT but my buddy wasnt the greatest driver and i beat him by a car and his fastest run was 14.0 @ 99mph.

 

I assume that your buddy has a new GT...not a '97 cobra.

There is a big difference. Keep in mind that the cobra makes all its power in the high r's, and it isnt easy to launch well. Drivers make a huge difference.

I wouldnt be so quick to call BS on a street race. If you have ever done any street racing, you'd know that things rarely happen the way they should.

You were in my backyard. I'm at 103rd and 59(well west of that a little actually). I am very familure with that. That's where I do all of my "test and tune." There are some bad a$$ shops back there too if you ever need any serious work done. Not cheap though.

 

'97 Cobras never came in yellow. Only '98's, '01's and now '03's. If it was a yellow cobra, it was either one of those years or someone is driving a fake

Hey Mean, what suspension mods do you have to pull a 1.9 60 foot on street tires? Or are they drag radials?

Zero tire spin. Lots of room for more low end torque.

 

I am out almost every fri/sat/sun nights.

I normaly roll with a black 97 cobra. We hit up 4 corners all the time...but there are not normaly any real racers there.

The taco bell on 75th is good for hanging out and laughs...I have found a few races there.

i have only done it 2x. but i do have consistent 2.0's
so far this year i have made 32 runs down the tracks around here

also i do consider myself to be a good drag racer

90 iroc z, i have beaten many of the same car as above at the track. as a matter of fact i have yet to be beat by one this year.
driver compitence is huge in the past 14 yrs i have made more trips down a dragstrip than i can remember

I definately believe you. What do you think about hanging out at the 4 corners this weekend. We could get some 3rd gen representation there. BTW I sprayed my first topcoat last night. Lots of runs, but not too bad for a first timer. I've got lots of sanding ahead of me tonight. Should be GTG this weekend.

yea but an easy 7 cars??? that car runs ur #s stock. it shoulda been neck and neck, plus off a roll i think ur auto would had some trouble. and uh ive been racing on the street for 3 years now and have watched many of races, but thats YOUR best time in ur sig and my buddy with a bone stock 97 cobra ran 14.0s consistently w/o a problem. they just pull so hard up top i think ur 1.9 got u a 14.09, definately not ur hp as the cobra has easily 30 hp on you. plus a powerband in whatever gear he is in. on a roll hed eat you up same with my buddies cobra, our torque is better. i just called bs on the 7 cars, maybe u kept going after he shut down but 7 cars is

 

i gotcha, i was just going by my mirror for judgement. and no it was not the passenger side .
as stated to synapsis i have only hit 1.9 a couple of times. i do however have 12 14.0? time slips w/ 2.0 60' times

other facters could have helped me this i know
it was about 90 deg out but with my set up my car does not run above 170 even in traffic. i ve gotthe twin fans on a switch 160 stat. a/c condenser removed for better cooling also

he could have been running really hot especially after the first run
also his car may have been a fake but it did have the emblems and the intake manifold for it. what else could i look for on the car to make sure. i know i'll see him again
