Finally caught a mustang

Tonight I finally caught up with a Mustang on the road. I have been trying forever to see if I got what it takes to bring down a 5.0 but I could NEVER find one. Finally tonight, I was coming home from my girlfriends house and there is a guy down the street that used to go to high school with me. I know him pretty well (he is a local artist) and he had just pulled out his project mustang onto the street before me. I caught up with him on the main road and shot the **** with him for a bit.

We came to a red light and we were talking about life, jobs, etc. The light turned green and we both gave it a half-hearted go and backed off. He decided he wanted to gun if from like 35-40 mph (which is no good for me cuz I have NO high RPM power) so I oblige him and go for it. He rips away pretty good and I missed a gear so I let him have round 1. We get to the next light and I ask him what he did to his (cuz I always see him working on it). He says he has a 302, heads, exhaust, the usual. He asks if I had a 350 and I sadly shook my head. I explained that I had a sorry 305 but I have a bottle of juice to make up for it. So when the light turns green I shoot out of the hole. I can hear his tires chirpin trying to grab some road, by this time I'm already in 2nd, gaining a bigger lead, then by 3rd, he's gaining and up until 65-70 I was up by a nose. I finally let off, and he continues on to the next street where he turns off. I give him a couple of honks and he waves as I go by. He's a cool guy and I'm glad I was able to put a mustang down finally. Sorry bout the long post!

Steve

Cool screen name.

Always fun to have a friendly race like that. I've yet to run into a 5.0 myself, but hope the experience when it happens is similar to yours.

If you're interested, I know of several near stock 5.0 and 4.6 cars you could run. No money of course, all in good fun. Just let me know...

I can't wait till my cousin gets his 86 T/A up and running. Then we will have some good races.

Oh ya, how much spray are you running, because a heads, cam, and intake Mustang with a stick is well into the 13s or 12s depending on the parts.

That's right. I keep forgetting you can hook me up like that, Nic!! I'd really like to run one of the 215 hp 4.6L's if possible.

If you want, I I've got 3 Grand Nationals I can send your way, would make for a good time

Nic --> :hail: GN

Just let me know when you're ready to go to the track and I'll try to set you up. There's a guy in our club with a 96 GT with an X-pipe and flowmasters, otherwise stock.
