How fast are the new Tiburon GTs?
Me and my dad took one for a test drive the other day. It was the v6 model with 17 alloys, z rated tires, leather, 6 speed, 7 speaker system. NICE little car for 19k plus felt pretty quick. I was just wondering what kinda times they pull? im sure its probably faster than the old slowmaro. Im honestly thinking about getting one.

It should be a low 15 second car, maybe break into the high 14's if I remember correctly. I worked for Hyundai for 4 1/2 years and left a little after the '03 Tibs hit the showrooms and have to say, I'm damn impressed with that car. I don't think there's many cars on the road that give you more for your money than that one.
I think it's a BIG improvement over the older ones. Those things are really ugly AND slow. It doesn't get worse than that. The newere ones are faster and they look better. I like the fact that they have six speeds. Not like that dumb RSX type S. The problem i have with that is that it has a six speed. It's like my friend once said,

i have owned a hyundai once already....a excel GL...that car was trash. a buddy of mine has a 2001 5 speed tiburon. its pretty nice i mean its loaded and a nice ride. i like the new ones much much better tho. Id probably get one but i dont want that high of car payment for that long since im starting college next year.
assuming you own the camaro and you are not making any payments to anyone, I am sure you can have a hot looking and performing camaro for the price of that hyundai. But if a "slomaro"
is not in your heart, then a hyundai it should be. Follow your heart man, follow your heart....

Hey primer, I wouldn't talk w/ ur "rebuilt 305" over there...good choice rebuilding that instead of getting a real engine...and i have had a 305 so i do know my fair share about them
you beat a ls1 ws6? yeah right. when was the last time anyone saw a 305 with timing turned back beat a ls1. get real. a heads and cam 305 MIGHT hang with an ls1 but probably not because of the lack of torque and the ls1's flat hp/tq curve. if you werent talking about dusting a ls1 then disregard all previous statements.

can you imagine insurance on a trans am....comon now im 18. Not to mention about 30 min ago i just got a 65 in a 45....he could have got me for wreckless driving but he didnt. only reason id consider the hyundai is the fact i will never had to worry about it and it would be somewhat driveable during WV winter.

yea i was talking about the Hyundai, i dusted one with the "rice burner" exhaust setup. im not stupid enough to even attempt to think about pretending to say i outrun an LS1 WS6! not until i build the 383 anyway!
Tiburon runs 7.0 0-60 which will spank your camaro. It's cool for a rice rocket but not for a car. I'd take one over a played out Civic or other rice burner but I wouldn't pay 19K for it. Money not well spent. Spend $900 on your camaro and you'll beat that time. Test drive a new SS and see how that strokes you.
before i do anything to the camaro i have to do something about the tranny. right now im loosing 3rd gear. when it goes i guess its time for a t56 swap or a rebuild im not sure which yet.

My cousin just got a Tiburon. WTF is up with the backseats? I'm only 5' 8 1/2" and I couldn't sit back all the way b/c my head was hitting the back window. Most uncomfortable 5 minutes of my life! Why bother putting the back seats in - just in case you have to drive around a bunch of pygmies someday?
I dont like the styling myself but I do have a friend with a turbocharged tiberon (the older model not the new one) and he's pushing around 450 hp @ 22 psi. There is hope later on if you get sick of that v6 performance. Plus the sport compact scene is building the new Tiberon up to be THE next sport compact so I imagine the aftermarket selection will be huge. Still ... I'd spend that 19k somewhere else ....

He's 6'3" maybe 6'4" (same as me) and he has sat in the back of my GTA several times w/o complaint. You just have to be a little cosiderate in the front seats and move up a bit (front seat passenger is ~ 5'11" or so).I'd like to see what can be done with those new tiburons, I was pleasantly surprised with how nice the previous generation was. Definatly not going to spend 19 large on it though.
You know what, I'd take a 3G backseat ride anyday over a 94+ mustang. I mean, I'm not exactly what I consider big or tall, but in the mustangs you just have no headroom at all. You've at least got that in our cars. I could probably ride for an hour or 2 in a 3G without going nuts. (I'm 5'11 for the record)
Now about the Tibs.... I'm going to assume the new top line GTS or whatever it is is a mid 15 second car. A freind of my little brother just got one, black with black leather and the 6 speed, its a damn nice car honestly especially for the money. He raced my neighbors Celica GTS 6 speed and he said they were dead even, and he ran mid/low 15s.
I'd probably at this point in my life not buy one because firstly i can't afford it by a longshot, and if I could I'd by the car I really want, a 93-97 T/A, for like, half that much, and save the rest for mods and or a daily driver. But in a couple years, the used ones will probably be going for great prices and they'll still have a year or 2 of warranty left. I think with its 5-10 year warranty on certain stuff it'd be a great car to drive to work everyday and put miles on. I mean, gotta admit, for what it is, its pretty cool. Hyundai is really coming up in the world I think.
