tonight i was comming home with my new girlfriend (hopefully) and there was this civic hachback and a four door acord crusing, well i cut them off in my dads mazda truck and took off, well the guy in the hatch finally caught up and wanted to race, he droped it to third and i droped to fourth and he pulled on me for a sec then i caught up and ripped past him. then i started to coast and they came up next to me when i was in the car pool lane and blocked me in with a car infront of me. so i waited and then when i got the chance i droped it again and gave him the good ol peace sign and was gone. anyways i just thought it was funny that my bro says that hondas are freeway kilers, wel clearly not that one, anyways sorry for the long post, good luck with the killes, peace

Honda's definently aren't freeway killers, that's . In my friends stock and sucky 86 CRX Si [all of maybe 90 hp] we raced a 98 or so Civic EX on the interstate. Pulled about 3 car lengths all 4 times. It was just pathetic, they had the wing, japanese letters, and madatory fart tip. Funny thing was they had writing on their windshield like they had just come from the track.

hey man look I"ll tell you this, I am currently driving a honda accord 4 door with a 2.2 and 5 speed stick. and I tell you I can't win a freaking race, it stock, but man I tell you it just pisses me off cuz it weighs alittle over 3000 pounds and it's got a 2.2 pulling it, I LOST to s ford taurus AND a grand prix at the same time, Today was the biggest blower though, 2 hot girl in a car next to me and I"m with my friend, we race, they are winning but when my honda starts to catch up on them and FAST, some punk cut me off and pulled in front of me, of course I lost, how embarrasing, I think mine is bad luck.

I need my camaro to run NOW or else I"m going to go insane:lala:

i think we got an old farm truck sitting in a barn somewhere. you could drive that if you wanted. sure it's a lil rusty, and it smokes, and it doesn't have an exhaust. so what if the bed is made on 2x6's? and who cares about three different tire brands? at least it ain't a honda!

Not all Hondas are freeway killers. If someone builds one properly they can be very very quick at freeway speeds. Granted both the Hondas in this story are slow, don't be fooled. Its almost as bad as some import guy smoking a v6 camaro and then saying all camaros are slow. Maybe the v6 might be considered slow to him, but there are other camaro's out there with 383's that aren't slow at all. I've had hybrid civic hatchbacks/crx's walk my camaro rs on the freeway (heck my 305 TBI is slow so its not that impressive). Most stock civics before 2000 come with economy low powered engines. If they swap in a better engine they can see 14's all motor very easily. Your friends 86 crx would make a good donor for a hybrid project like this. His crx weighs 1980 pounds. If he gutted the interior, and swapped in a newer tech engine (B16/B18) he could easily run with stock 350ci v8's. Of course you could always come with the 'if i did that to my car' or 'if i spent that much money' and you're right, but this is street racing so you bring what you got. Doubt me if you will but its not a joke.

No I don't doubt you in the least. I do understand that the stroker 383's are quick, and not sure why you made sure I understood they're quicker than the stock V6 camaro. It's obvious.

That it may be. However it's just a beater we picked up for $300. So we're just going to abuse it until it dies a good beater death Even though we're racing slow cars with a slow car, It's still fun to see a $300 POS beat a car that someone paid $16,000 for.

Depending on how well the 383 is built.....but in mild 400HP form, low 13's easy.

I was actually refering to the possibility of a Honda being fast. We're all Chevy guys here so we knows whats up with chevy engines but sometimes people underestimate sport compacts. I was trying to make an anology .. 383 vs the v6 and a stock EX motor vs a B16/B18. Swap in the right motor and the car will be fast. The no joke is that a 86 crx with a b16 and boltons would smoke most 305's in the 1/4 and on the freeway.

Oh ok. I do understand what you mean. It's practically the same in all cars, put the right motor in anything and it'll be fast [not a civic though, just kidding ].
As for the CRX, like said earlier we're just planning to kill it. It's a good car but past it's prime and not worth dropping more than $50 into it.
