A guy I work with has a 93ish dogde dakota 5 speed. I know Its a v6 with exhaust and a brand new jasper engine (high po engine builder around here) anyways he always talks about how fast this truck is so I say Ill race you...He says "For titles?" Nah just to see what happens. Well off the line i barely spin (gotta love good tires). I hear him spinning pretty good and chirping them in every gear. I got about a 2 car jump on him off the line and ended up with about 5 cars on him by the time we hit 100. I havent seen him again yet but I will tomorrow

I beat a '98 dodge stratus with my L03. Hit a straightaway, threw it into OD and blew by him at about 100. I beat the same kids dodge neon. He talks a lot of crap about my car, but I think I shutup him up now.

 

After seeing thje fast and the furious everyone wants to race for titles . He also has a bone stock 80s honda and a beretta that he think will outrun me...he said his truck is faster than those tho so i guess my cars faster than all his crap. Mine is even missing and has fouled plugs from bad valve seals...

 

Was the Dakota an R/T? There's this guy wo lives down the street from me with a black Dakota R/T. He always passes me doin' like 100, so one day in a fit of stupidity and wanting to show off my mighty LO3 , I put the hammer down and pass him up. He tried to pass me, but he couldn't! hehehe Anyway, Nice kill

 

Good Kill. Go back and race for titles, and sell his truck and make one badass L03.

 

Its amazing how people always put down the lowly LO3 but it still out performs alot of vehicles any way. Good kill.

 

The only cars they outperform arent sports cars....Wont outrun v8 mustangs or camaros or anything that is worth bragging about anyways. I dont think I would have beat him if my car was still stock tho.

 

Well......not to nit pick but, on your engine you've pretty much removed all the parts that make an L03 an L03 except for the cam, which I see you plan on replacing with an Lt1 cam. Once you've replaced all the factory intake/exhaust crap, you start making good #'s. And don't think that just because that L03 has swirl port heads you cant' make it fast with good parts on it. I had my girlfriends 305 camaro with stock swirl port heads pulling 98.5mph time slips, which I still haven't been able to figure out, because the car was actually technically making the same HP with the 305 as the new 350 but ran much slower in the 1/4 because the new 350 has like 100 lbs more torque. Weird eh?? I think its mostly because I just need to tune it more and then I'll see where those missing mph's went that I know it has. My friend tells me the 3,000 stall converter is eating up the extra mph, since I didnt' have the stall converter with the 305. Ok now I'm rambling

From my experience a real L03 is not something you'd want to be racing anybody with, I know from 1st hand experience, because that L03 is what came in both my firebird and my girlfriends camaro before I frankenstiened both those cars Good kill though



btw-might I suggest a Comp 252 or 262 extreme energy cam? Lt1 cam is very modest. I've had extremely good power #'s with these cams in 305's.

 

Id like to get the cam in before school starts back up but im not sure if i can or not. Ill look into those cams you mentioned.

 

The honda u need not worry about, but some of those berettas came with a decent engine(180 hp) which will give a 305 a good race. I should know I beat one by only one car.

 

I would have to have a 10 second car to put it up for slips. I can't speak for anyone else here, but I've put way too much time and money into my car to just have it hustled away.

 

Just give me a Lingenfelter TT 'Vette, and i'll race for slips.
