My 305 vs 2000 SS

Okay so my friend is coming over, and I had just bumped the timing up to 9 degrees. I wanted to test the timing so I said I'd race her. We get about to 40mph and I yell out my window "punch it sarah." I gave her the move and I quickly jumped up 1/2 a car on her and we were dead even, I grabbed 3rd and we both had to slow down (tracks). She was in OD and we both had 2 passengers. Her car has a catback thats it

I was very surprised in the 305, 2nd gear is a real puller, its 3rd gear where my car just dies out, I don't know why. Oh well, I have a question about the mighty LB9 in the TPI section that I would like as much input as possible. Go there and check it. Neway I couldn't catch another light with her so all i have is 2nd gear race with the SS, pretty surprised I was tho.

I think you can chalk that race up to "women racing skills." A 2000 SS will hand a 14 second car its *** from any speed.

I'll agree with that. And as far as why you fall on your face in third might have to do with the fact that wind resistance is a direct squared relationship to speed. Meaning that as you double you speed, your wind resistance quadruples. So the laws of physics implies that you need some ***** under the hood to pull hard in third, which is what most 305's lack.

I think there were some outside factors that haven't been mentioned here. Like maybe she had her seat back too far and couldn't get the pedal to the floor like she thought? lol

the TPI/5speed combo is an awesome one, but it is no match for an LS1. had you raced a 6speed version, it would have been all over when both of you shifted into 3rd. 3rd gear is absolutely SICK in the LS1s. thats where theyre real power starts and the TPIs starts to fall off. believe me, i know this all to well. i had a LS1 6speed Z28 by a length or 2 in my Vette until it hit 3rd. then it flew by me like i was standing still

Amen to that brotha!!!

I'm not saying that women dont know how to drive, I know a few that can hand the next man his ***. But most women can't drive for ****, me & my friend have dents/ scrapes in our cars that prove my/our theory lol.

Hah first off its 13.6 @ 101mph to my low 14 seconds, (couldnt get a 2.08 60ft w/headers and catback). Plus she was in OD, I drove it before also, I wasnt to astonished or anything, felt like a high 13 second car, plus the car has to kick down to gear at WOT (right?? or am i just retarded) not to mention I was in complete powerband so I can assume anyone within a few tenths of a faster car could keep up for awhile. I didnt say I went into 3rd, thats when most cars walk me, but we HAD to slow down so I count it as a 2nd gear kill hehe. If it were 6 speed, she woulda waved by and would have 2 squint to see her by the time i hit 3rd. Big difference in the LS1 autos and manuals, atleast from my experience. And last I checked going 40mph and punching the gas didnt require to much of driving skills. Maybe off the line she would have to feather it but we didnt go off the line, and when I drove it, I couldnt even get the car to fishtail outta the corners...but yea at like 60mph that thing pulls HARD.

This is off topic but....................how do you figure your 305 is gonna hit 13's "all stock" if it has all that stuff on it including headers, exhaust, ported intake, ram air, drag radials, and the planned ignition, AFPR and driveshaft mods??!?? Damn, I wanna know what RPO options your car had!!!

he means the motor is all stock... heads, cam, intake, rotating assembly... things like that. technically driveline and exhaust mods arent part of the motor. alot of Vette guys run well into the 12s on stock motors, and ive heard a few Mustang guys do as well

I dunno, but if I saw some "stock" GTA or mustang roll up to the illegals, popped the hood and there was a honk'n supercharger sittting there...........then he said "but its all stock" he'd get laughed in his face. Get my point?

Hell there are "stock" (stock internals/stock heads) N/A LS1's running low 11.30's all day long.

Yea i assume rotating assembly, not minor boltons...btw i plan to goto the track in september w/listed mods, maybe a chip. Motor is stock 305 with Stock heads, stock intake, and if you call removing that HUGE wall inside the plenum not stock then well u got me there. but anyone to look at my motor and hear it would assumestock.

i believe not stock would be RRs or heads, or cam or stuff like that.
