head to head with S2000....

Raced a new S2000 on the way home from our thirdgen meet yesterday. I used to work at a Honda dealership so i know what they can do b/c i drove them all the time. 240 HP and they handle like a champ. Since then i've done some susp. mods to my bird though. I ended up behind him on a nice windy road. He tried to run but i was right in his tail. Then we got out onto the 2 lane straight. I heard him downshift and take off. So i get into it as i notice he's pulling away. I slowly start to gain on him until we're nose-to-nose. I look over and he's getting pissed. So i kept with him for a while until he turned off. Just fugured i'd brag a bit as i thought he'd hand me my ***.

Yeah, it IS a Honda, but you have to think to yourself. It has 240 HP. Granted it's got no torque, but those things like to wind out at about 8 grand. Plus the car weighs half as much as mine. Then there's the fact that i've got a 150000 mile LO3. Lets just say i was surprised.

Yea it's pretty good for a Honda, I just find it so funny around here that ppl pimp out Civic's, Integra, Cavalier, Prelude, And the most important one, A NEON!!! Dude I seen a red 4 DOOR Neon today with a double decker wing on that didn't match the paint. It was lowered to the ground with 2 big fart pipes coming out the back driver side and all she has is an intake on it. Dude he let me drive the Neon, This car is so freaken slow, It's almost as slow as my nanny's Dodge Aries

Ya it is like people who race minivans, and then back up how fast they are. Really, a minivan, Fast???

Anyway, that LO3 must be running good, those cars are good high end, twisty cars. The funny thing is, my friend has one, and the tires are small. They are 215/55/16 (I think). They are smaller than my moms Imprezas tires!!! What a sports car!!!

Who said anything about your Aerostar, I was just making a statement like yours. You don't like kids who pimp out there Neons, and I don't like kids who think minivans, and V6s are fast! I am entiteled to an opinion also!!! it just happens that you fall into these categories!

Fast minivans...

Two words - Gus Mahon. May he rest in piece of course...anybody who can wring a 13.18 out of a Chrysler minivan is damn cool (and resourceful) in my book.

I say the s2000 prolly should have won if you are running an l03 but who knows. maybe he shifted out of the powerband or just had a ****ty running motor.

as for the comment about hondas that I quoted above...

I wouldn't mind having an s2000, NSX, or even a prelude (I like the looks of them though I wouldn't turn it into a race car)

Funny you should say that. There is a white Astro for sale down the street from me. It has a 454 in it and slicks on the back. I don't know how fast it is or anything, but it sounds wicked.

Jesus Camaro_1986_19, Have you ever even sat in an s2000? Let alone drive one?

Even a poorly driven s2000 should kill an LO3 (read: I had one). I'm pretty confident that no amount of mods besides 200 shot of nitrous could make up for the almost 3.5 second difference in 1/4 times for these 2 cars... ESPECIALLY on the top end.. Hell, if you would have said you jumped out to an early lead, i would believe you. But you are gaining on a car with more HP, and better gearing?? Not to mention it weighs 1000lbs less..

Unless i'm missing something and you have a 350 l98 or a 305 tpi, I think you are full of what you are shoveling..

I garauntee he wasn't paying attention or racing. You did not beat an s2000 with your L03, stop dreaming.

People underestimate vans especially nice and fast ones, Yea I agree, NSX is an Acura, That's the only import I would take, And yes Fire Audio I have sat and driven in one and they stink overall, Acceleration is pretty good but that's the end of it. If you gonna supoort a Honda, Go to a Honda board not a Thirdgen board

Fire-Audio, I take a look here, A ****load of posts are you saying that thirdgen's are slow and all these different cars can beat them, You need to get a better thirdgen if you think all of these pieces of **** are fast

Look dude. I have had thirdgens, I've ridden in them... I've loved them and I've hated them... But you cannot possibly say within reason that you would rather have an lo3 f-body than an s2000. That is the dumbest thing i've ever seen..

And i'm not calling all thirdgens p.o.s's. Maybe if you took the time to read my posts you would see that.. An s2000 and an rsx are not crappy. Am i defending CRX's? NO. Am i defending Civics? NO.. am I even defending Integra's? No. So get your head out of your *** and take the posts for what they are worth.

Youve driven an s2000 and overall like thirdgens better... would you please pass whatever you are smoking over here?

so by saying you like an NSX you right there are supporting a honda

honda=acura

kinda like saying chevy is good but pontiac sux

same company for the most part

Import/Domestic wars...

Let's not let this degenerate into an online pissing contest shall we? I'm really tired of both sides in this whole thing...I mean, you have ignorant people on the import side whose whole thing is "My car is lighter, the technology is cutting edge, and your motor is a 50 yr old design, blah blah blah." Then you have ignorant people on the domestic side going "I've got a motor twice the size of yours and my car is rear wheel drive...your car is a wimpy little econo-box, blah blah blah." Jesus Christ when does it end? That comment from Camaro_1986_19 "If you're going to support a Honda, go to a Honda board" is rediculous. You can hate Hondas if you want, but at least admit when something is fast. Plus it IS possible to like more than one brand of automobile. Personally I am an automotive junkie, my all time dream car is a '69 Le Mans blue Stingray with a 427/4speed, but I also secretly lust for an Austin Healey Bugeye, a Toyota 2000GT, a Nissan 300ZX, a Volkswagen Scirrocco, and a maybe even a Kharmann Ghia convertible (with a Porsche Boxter engine of course, bolts right in ). Anyway the point let's stop all this damn bickering about who is faster etc...it's getting old.

Later,

Matthew

Hey nasty bird, for what its worth, i appreciate the fact that you didnt bash on the 2000 because you hung with it. Although maybe you can clear something up...who won? I mean really, you said you were inching up on him and kept with him but did anyone actually win? I would also like to add that it is nice to interact with someone with an open mind regarding imports... someone such as yourself. By comparison, camaro_1986_19's posts on this and other threads show no logical thought process or any sense of reason. Anyway, you say it was a legitimate race so i believe you, nice kill... or wound or...you know.

One more thing, 1986_19 you said this
Nah, You would hand that P.O.S. it's ***
do you have any factual information that you can back that up with? Or is that youre style...to have absoulutley no truth in what you say?

If it wasn't for the $$$ value, I wouldn't take a S2000 over much of anything either... Torque-less wonders have to be driven like you want to destroy them to perform anything near well...

Wouldn't have a 305 TBI for long either though...

Again you have proven to us all that you have a simple mind. When you were on this test drive, did you get it in the powerband? Im sure the 7k-9k pull in that car cannot be called anything but fast by anyone's standards. I have a slightly modded L98 and I would surely be careful racing an s2000. I hate to beat a dead horse but my friends RSX really surprised me when it pulled in the 6k-8k range...imagine what an s2000 would do. Do yourself a favor, go to www.carpoint.com and just browse the stock power ratings versus weight on any of the above mentioned cars and youll see what were talking about.

I redlined it, Sure it can beat my little modded 2.8 but my dad's 92 Z28 with the 350 TPI would absolutley murder this little puppie!
