88 IROC-Z vs. 91 B4C
OK I was building a '88 IROC-Z and I saw an ad in the paper for a B4C so I had to sell the IROC to my brother to get money for the B4C. So he finally gets it done all tuned up and everything. So here's what I had done to the IROC, Engine Bored .040 over, Steel Crank, 10.5:1 JE pistons, Rebuilt heads, Stock Intake, High Flow cat and muffler, Shift kit, stall TC, and slicks on back. The IROC also has the 3.27 rear.
So last night we line them up and he takes me out of the hole (slicks) and then at about 60 ft. I start pulling on him, by the 1/8 I had him and I beat him by about 1 1/2 car lengths. By the end we where both going over 105 (1/4 mile).
After I was like WTF, I thought for sure he was going to kill me. Now is it that he is slow or my B4C is just that fast?
Any input is greatly appreciated.
p.s. he went to the shop today and called hypertech he's ordering a completely programmable computer. He's a little mad

Wow I guess so! Thats awesome, get that puppy to the track and PLEASE post some 1/4 times. Ive seen 1LEs run but never a B4C. I thought it was an RS with just the Z28 drivetrain...who knows maybe the guy before you did something or what not. Nice run anyways, is it manual?

No the B4C and the IROC are both Auto's but the IROC has an awesome shift kit in it.
Only way to find out is by the track!!! Rebuilt heads I doubt did anything, the shiftkit, tires, and pistons prolly gave it some quicker times, nothing phenomenal tho. My buddy bought brand new L98 stock heads from GM to replace his old ones and I still walk him...hes got a G92 Formula 350 Id say your Iroc ran 13.8 or so and your b4c a 14.0 w/some luck??? I don't know...quick times either way....

Ragnarok are you sure about the headers. I'm pretty sure mine doesn't have headers on it and it's supposed to be dead stock. Maybe the siamese intake runners I'll buy into but headers, I'm not sure, (I know it has dual cats on it
).
Thanks, Garrett

The B4C is definately nice, but I think thats a miss-read. Off the 'Tech' section of this website:
1991: B4C `special service' police package became available to law enforcement agencies only. Cars were RS coupes with Z28 5.0 TPI or 5.7 TPI drivetrains and Z28 suspensions. These cars came equipped with the 16 inch wheels and P245/50-ZR16 tires, engine oil cooler, rear disc brakes, and limited slip axle. Midyear, the 1LE 11.86 inch front brakes and HD calipers became optional for the B4C. This package was the only way to get air conditioning and the HD front brakes. There were 592 1991 B4C Camaros built.
1992: Special 25th Anniversary `Collector's Edition' Camaro was planned, but then dropped. There were to be 602 (same as the number of '67 Z28's) produced. Only two prototypes were completed however. The Collector's Edition Camaro started as a white Heritage Edition RS Camaro (with black stripes). Then the B4C police package was added, and then it was equipped with the Corvette L98 5.7 aluminum head motor, fitted with siamesed intake runners and tubular headers. This brought the horsepower rating up to 270. The car was also equipped with a ZF 6-speed and GTA black `lace' 16x8 wheels.

To answer your Q, the B4C is really that good. They came with siamesed intake runners and headers, good for 270 hp, not to mention all the HD goodies on the car (cops get all the good shnit)
umm, i dont think they came with siamesed runners.....could be mistaken though....
Damn......I know I've seen the notes about the siamesed runners and headers on at least two other websites, one of them was a police vehicle site, the other was another F-body site...was so long ago, though, I couldn't tell you what they were. However, I could be mistaken, not saying my word is law, I might be just imagining things, or the crack is finally affecting my brain LOL. If I find out, I'll let you guys know.
I found one of the web addresses that I saw earlier, http://www.camaro3rdgen.20m.com/1992.html
It has the same text CrazyHawaiian posted (someone's site is plagarizing! LOL). I imagine, though, if yours doesn't have headers, CamaroFreak406, then that's gospel. I still lean toward 'yes' on the intake runners (it seems to me to be a good bet on making the extra horses, the dual cats can't account for them all) Like I said, though, not stepping on people's shoes, just throwing in my two cents. Seems that one of those two pennies was tarnished this time LOL. I just need to get my own B4C so I know for sure in the future (I wish!)
