Lost to friends modded 5.0

I got a chance to run my friends 88 5.0 which has 3.73's, intake, plenum, short shifter, and full 2.5" exhaust w/ h-pipe. We went from a dead stop twice to the same outcome. Through 1st I pulled on him, 2'nd he passed me and I was at his bumper. In third he pulled 3 lengths on me and then no ground was lost/gained by either of us in 4th. So at the end I was 3 car lengths behind, at ~85mph. I have an 87 5spd 305 LG4 in my car and as far as I know the only mods are 600cfm Holley carb, Performer intake manifold and Catback with some weight redux in the interior. How did I do?

I'd say you really one that battle then, he should have blown your doors off.

He's runnin at least a 14 flat, most likely high 13s.

He has similar mods as me, and if he could hook (I could not) he should be at least 13.9-13.7!!! I'm not calling BS, but don't LG4s run 16s!!!

Well... I'm not exactly sure what is done to my car. I bought it not to long ago and I really have no clue whether the heads/ internals were touched on it...

LG4s might be able to hit a high 15, very high, but I would say most run low 16s.

He's got nearly the same mods as me except i'm Automatic and I run low 14's. I'd imaging his car with traction and if he can drive should be a high 13 sec car

So assuming my friend is in the high 13's, would the result of this race mean I'm running ~ high 14's?

Only if he is running high 13's. I'm not a big fan of judging one's car based on how well they did in a race with a car that's been to the track. How do you know that the run on the street was that person's best and equivalent to what they ran on the track?

Only way to knopw what your car runs is to go to the track

Think about it this way, I ran a 13.90 at the track. I would not run that on the street. I also ran a 16.02 at the track, with lots of tire spin, I am not saying I would run the 16, but I would not be surprised if on the street my times were around high 14s. Thats why street racing doesn't solve much about a cars potential!

Just go to a drag strip or shop with a chassis dyno and get some actual numbers to post.
