Aighty guys this one has been crossing my mind for a while a 2002 Firehawk bone-stock vs. a Third Gen Camaro with a ZZ4 crate engine and 650 Carb, stock converter, and 3.73 gears and suspension mods. who do yall think would win in this race?

i've always wondered what the difference was on the 95 and up firehawks and a WS6 formula?
all i see is badging..
what'd they get?.. more gear (3.73?), a zf tranny instead of a t56? fatter tires and some rims? embroyed seats?
what?

With the 650 cfm carb, probably the LS1. With a 750 cfm carb, the better driver gets the win. The holeshot would win it here up til about 100 where the LS1 will pull.
IROCThe5.7L - The ZZ4 had 355HP and 405lb/ft. Or were you referring to the ZZ430 - which had 430HP and only 430 were made?

nope the ZZ4 with 355 hp the 420 hp crate motor would obviously stomp all over the LS1 especially with a stall converter. i just made this post because i wanted to see peoples responses. in all reality i think it would all just come down to the driver.

You may be thinking about the Fast Burn 385. With a hot cam its got 400 some horses. We have a ZZ4 with some other mods TPI injection, linenfelter intake, 2.73 rear end. And we also have a 2002 WS6. The WS6 is faster. It would not take much to make the car faster, but in our case it is not.
!
The thing to keep in mind is that a LS1, while down on peak torque from the ZZ4, will have a much easier time putting the power to the ground.
If you had slicks then it would be close, due to the thirdgen's lighter total weight.
Just whatever you do, dont run a 700r4!!
The LS1 will have probably 300hp at the wheels (stock), so dont look at the factory rating. The motor is probably making close to 350hp.

No, I dont actually have a 355hp motor its more like 420 hp (it's the Edelbrock RPM Package). ive done beat the same firehawk twice. but one night i was sittin up and thinkin about who would actually win with a Third gen with a ZZ4 against a stock Firehawk. Granted the LS1 has an awesome torque curve but the Third Gen is lighter and pushing the same horsepower... just a though. but when I raced my friend in the Firehawk he had all sorts of traction problems he just sat there and practically spun em.. of course he didnt know how to drive it either so I guess that is also a big factor lol. he runs low 13's stock in the 1/4 mile (from magazines) and i ran 12.57 @ 107 a couple months ago.. so either way he was waxed.
